Mosquito FB MkVI Coastal Command

Coastal Command Mosquito FB.Mk. VI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By Ranwers and Charlie Chap
SAS Edits by SAS CirX
SAS Repack and edit:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Prop Rotor texture mod simplified and edited. This plane now no longer needs the "new Mosquito Spinners" mod and its associated classfiles, prone to conflicts, to work, yet it still retains the new smooth spinners, but much improved with correct shadows and so on.
Also fixed a texture swop on the wings issue by increasing the LOD 1 distance.(out of sight out of mind!)

Hey Cirx and Co.

As always great stuff keeps appearing.

As always please correct me if I am mistaken/misinformed.

A couple of queries/thoughts regarding the Mossies (congrats on NF MKII by the way - it was on my list of desires):
-Does anyone know of existing, or could anyone tweak the existing Mossie pits to reflect historical difference between windscreen in NF and FB versions  from B versions - the NF and FB versions had a single flat bulletproof windscreen, and the B versions had a two pane angled windscreen butted together in the middle.I have noticed that the difference is reflected in the exterior views, but not in the interior cockpit views.
-Further, I have recently viewed photos that show a yoke as the control column end in a mosquito (don't know which version regrettably). Perhaps appropriate for B versions?
-I have also come across a reference recently (by Alfred Price, renowned WWII aviation author) which stated that a frequent payload for Mossies was 2X250 lb and 2 x 500 lb bombs.
-The RAF rocket loadout in IL2(EXC Beau X) is only with 60 lb warheads, which were HE only, yet the RAF also fielded 25 lb AP (Armour Piercing) and SAP (SemiArmour Piercing) warheads. This made a huge difference in the CC aircrafts' capabilities in taking on armoured warships, and Tiffies taking on AFVs and locomotives. I would love to see these offered as a loadout option on RAF rocket firing aircraft - I have no reference material which addresses the possibilities of mixing HE,AP and SAP warheads on the same loadout. Any of you historians know anything about this?
- The Mosquito was known for its exemplary performance, and the near impossibility of Luftwaffe fighters intercepting them except with a long dive approach to gather significant velocity. In a recent rereading of Adolf Gallands "The First and the Last", I noticed a section in which he remarks that Mosquitos gave the Luftwaffe Jaeger arm, and Hermann Goering fits because they so seldom successfully intercepted them. They went so far as to specialize units just to intercept mosquitos and these were so unsuccessful that they abandoned this practice.
I think anyone flying the wooden wonder in IL2 would agree that despite being fairly pleasant to fly, they are chronically incapable of outrunning up to date Bf109s and FW190s. I have read often the debates re the accuracy of the interpretation of FMs in the game in regard to top velocity and such; has anyone explored affecting the rate of accelleration and climb in these aircraft? I don't want to spark an angry debate, but am interested as to whether anyone else shares my thoughts.

Most sincerely.

I don't understand your last post, crazyflak. If you want the correct cockpit for Mosquito B version install that mod from AAA (the same you linked).

I don't clearly understand to what you refer with "all B versions". In game, by now, we have B Mk.IV (stock) and the modded B Mk.XVI.
So, if you refer to this last one, it's easy to put the AAA cockpit in this.
Just copy the hier file from the AAA mod (if I remeber well, it's name is CockpitMosquito4.him), rename it with the correct name (CockpitMosquito16.him) and copy in B Mk.XVI cockpit folder (3do/cockpit/Mosquito_FB_MkVI) replacing the old one. That's all.

Modding sometimes doesn't require Java editors, just a little improvisation.  ;)

I'm happy it worked.
I recommend you to copy all the AAA cockpit folder replacing the old B.XVI one (just to not have meshes conflicts). Always remember the trick to rename the AAA hier files with the name you find on the old B.XVI hier files (for both cockpit and bombardier positions).
Just to be sure. ;)

I tried a manual install for this mod and my B XVI Mossie from my old computer with 4.09 to my new one with 4.10.

It worked fine for both planes , except THE PROPELLERS ARE NOW PINK!!!

I am guessing that this is a mapping issue with the skin and is an easy fix. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the fix. They used to work fine, so I didn't realize that pink spinner disease was a well-known bug. Will try anew.

lol, the pink spinner disease must be the most well-known Mossie bug around...it has it's roots in the old UI days....and still haunting us up till now... :D

I deleted the mod from the other board and "did it right" with the SAS version. Now my pink spinners are a thing of the past.
