The Marshalls
« on: May 13, 2011, 08:43:23 PM »

I realized i didn't make a thread on here, but I have the entire Marshall Islands group at almost 1:1 scale in WIP. I have all the individual island groups at 1:1 scale but the distances between them are very slightly less due to the limitations of maximum map size in IL-2. I am waiting until I am finished with college semester finals to continue work. It is going to come with fully customized new airfield plates and lots of brand new custom textures. I will post pictures when I have time.

Nice Dave,

Long distance PBY patrols lots of coffee, smokes and Glenn Miller listening music to ease the strenuous

lengthy patrol times  ;) :) :D ;D

Looking forward to seeing your screens.  ;D :D

Cheers Kirby

Dave, realistic appearance of airfields makes or breaks a map, to me.  Your obvious talent and effort in this area makes this grand map something to anticipate with high expectations. 8)  Keep up the good work. :P

That map will make an excellent long-distance air race map!

I've been using KevinP's guides. In those, he seems to say the biggest he has been able to make was a map_c of 19040x14880 pixels (952Km x 744Km). This size just happened to coincide with the size of the Marshalls area that I wanted to include, so this is the size of my map. Editing map_c takes a ton of RAM lol.

I have been gone on vacation for the past month, but now I am resuming work on the project. Reefs are WIP right now.

Il-2's version of Kwajalein, the largest coral atoll in the world:

P.S. I REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS PROJECT, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP SEND ME A PM.
