P-40F/L (Packard Merlin V-1650-1) & P-40N V3 FINAL + HOTFIX
« on: December 08, 2009, 03:57:41 AM »

Hello guys,

So here they are, as promised, the P-40F and L models made by Anto and me. They feature an all new flight model, altered external visual model as well as new loadouts.

Anto was as nice as to remove the upper nose air scoop that was missing on these Merlin powered variants and differentiated them from the other Allison powered P-40s.

V3 final is based upon Beowolff/Checkyersix/Birdman's work and incorporates all present 3D fixes available into one pack - they cannot be found in this form as a standalone mod anywhere. As such it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY that you disable/remove any previous version of the "New wings" mod and such before installation of these new aircraft. Do not worry, all present fixes have been incorporated into this release!

It is advised to download the latest SAS buttons file which has just recently been updated with the new flight models:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,97.0.html

About the aircraft:
It features a licence built Merlin XX engine (single stage, two speed, built by Packard as V-1650-1) giving it superior performance to the E above 5500m with an absolute topspeed of 585km/h at 6100m. However it is slightly heavier and thus less maneuvrable, it is also slightly slower from 0 - all the way up to 5500m, climbrate is comparable.

v3 Improvements:

- Improved Flight Models for all 3 types

- Minor loadout changes

- Seperate 3D slots for the F & L models including removed outer gun barrels on the L (thanks Birdman!)

- Some LOD improvements (values based on Beowolff/Checkyersix/Birdman's work)

HOTFIX:

Fixes the non-availability of the 2x250lbs bombs loadout on the P-40N

MediaFire

Just unpack and place the P-40FLN folder in the same place, overwrite files when asked to!

Thanks!

I just wanted to clarify that, under the picture it is the early variants of subtype.
That is in line plane_ru.properties should be the following:
P-40F                   P-40F-1, Aug 1942
P-40L                   P-40L-5, 1943

Wow, the second SASprise this week, first the beautiful overhauled Ki-84's and now two new P-40's. I'm sure that the 'bugs' will be ironed out. So far nobody has bettered Bee's corrected visual P-40 model and I - and I thinks many of us - would like to see the whole P-40 serie re-done. Specialy when one sees the great results here on this site. Mr. Bormann should be grateful instead of complaining.

Outstanding! Big fan of the desert conflict and P40F was a major player in North Africa. Looking forward to flying this tonight.
