Verify, discuss photo and/or colour photos thread.
« on: October 05, 2012, 10:57:29 AM »

Can anyone verify this photo, by saying what nose colour it has (i think it may be yellow) what type (I think E4), where is it and who does it belong to (I also know that it is from JG 27) this is so i can make a skin request (or make one myself not sure yet) and possibly make a 1/48 model from it :)

The canopy doesnt mean a whole lot, I've seen E-1s with the later canopy added and E-7s with the early type, the only way to tell is with the werk number which we dont have.

This could be an E-3 or E-4

Ok thanks!! I didn't want to make my own as i don't know alot about colours, so thank you so much in advance!! It is also weird how the skins which are represent the aircraft use a different font style for the number 3 and do not have the yellow nose, hence why i was not quite sure.

It's yellow, here's the proof:

 ;D

Ok, coloured image aside: It's marked as E-3 in the image title but it could just as well be an E-1. Seems like JG27 flew both during Battle of Britain, and it definitely isn't an E-7 since then it would probably be in some sort of desert camouflage. If you look at this page and compare the closest similar looking aircraft, you find two Bf-109 E-1 "Yellow 12", one flown by Fw.Ernst Arnold, and another flown by Fw.Ernst Scherer.

I have no idea how accurate this information on the page is, but find it somewhat likely that this Yellow 3 would have reasonably similar livery as the Yellow 12.

Maybe. ???

I'd haphazzardly concur with the yellow/gelb RLM04 nose, certainly prior to the unit being sent to Africa/Afrika.

I think looking at both that the bottom of cowling could be yellow as well as it the same kind of shade as the top although a little lighter while the bottom of the fuselage is alot lighter

My failed attempt at colouring.

Also note that yellow 12 had scissors, behind the cockpit and the paintcheme is different, (blue instead of the grey on the fuselage sides on yellow 12 and the striped pattern goes further down the fuselage on yellow 12 than on yellow 3.

Heres my take on it after looking at other I gruppe Jg27 Emils

Sorry no pic as Photobucket seems to be playing up

https://www.mediafire.com/?tky3ddrm4fvadrr

I made the top of the cowel RLM27 and a much lighter shade than the RLM04 of the number '3' the spinner appears to have a 1/3 black segment which was common at the time.

Iwll update soon with a full coweling yellow version and put them in the skin section :)
