"Pearl Harbor - Tokyo" V2.0 release
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:45:20 AM »

"PEARL HARBOR - TOKYO"

Ultimate dynamic campaign for HSFX 7.02

Let me introduce my dynamic campaign "Pearl Harbor - Tokyo". It’s a result of almost 2 years of work. Since 2004, when "Pearl Harbor" was released by Maddox Games, i dreamed about dynamic campaign on PTO, with all battles and major operations. And now we have this campaign at last. It contains previously unseen level of historical events modelling for dynamic campaigns, from 07.12.1941 to 15.08.1945. Modpack HSFX 7.0 give possibility to create new campaign, which use many new maps, aircrafts and ground objects, for much more realistic PTO modelling.

Work on this campaign begin on february 2013, and on september version 1.0 (for Ultrapack 3.0) was released on sukhoi.ru and aviaskins. In 2014 i decide to remake campaign from Ultrapack to HSFX 7.0, update it with many new operations and add briefings for english version.
Campaign was created with strong support from Asura, and many features was created by him especially for my campaign.

"Pearl Harbor - Tokyo" main features

- player can take part on main battles and operations, from 07.12.1941 till the end of war. There are hundreds of missions.
- every campaign consists from small (1-2 missions) and big (30-40 missions) subcampaigns (operations).
- main US / Japan campaigns consists from big subcampaigns, like New Guinea or Solomon islands, which include historically separated from each other operations. For example, Solomon islands campaign include 8 operations, from august 1942 till december 1943. And there hundreds of historical missions.
- campaigns for USA and Japan empire will have Navy and Army parts (subcampaigns), which include fighter, bomber (dive, medium and heavy) and torpedo plane campaigns, both carrier and ground based.
- all campaigns are historical accurately, based on real events, when it's possible by HSFX engine/maps limitations.
- full scaled carrier task forces, with battleships, cruisers and 10-20 destroyers. You need very powerful PC.
- many amphibian landing operations. It was really hard, create front line movement on small pacific islands, like Tarawa or Kwajalein.
- campaign use almost all PTO maps, that we have in HSFX, and 3 additional mod maps, which you need to install.
- campaigns presented in 2 versions: basic version for clear HSFX 7.02 and mod version, with 3 mod maps and few aircrafts.
- a large number of aircraft in missions. In some cases there are about 100 aircrafts in one mission. Most missions consist 50-70 aircrafts, so you will need a powerful machine to play this campaign.
- campaign is oriented to historical realism, not for so called "easy gameplay" or time economy. In many cases long range flights waiting for the player, and this is PTO feature.

Important!!! Known issues

At this moment i have few bugs in campaign, which can be fixed with Asura's help only. He don’t have much time for it, so we all must waiting for new DGEN versions, which fixe this troubles. Main issue is when DGEN try to launch all aircrafts from just one airfield. It leads to crash all aircrafts, which are not located on air strip. This problem exists only on missions with many aircrafts (40-50 and more), and partially can be fixed by using AirIntensity=Low parameter in DGEnconf setting. Asura promised me fixed this in future.
Second and big issue - i have no enough beta-testers for big project like "Pearl Harbor - Tokyo". This means, many small bugs and errors probably exist somewhere in campaign files.

Future plans

There's few ideas, what can be include in campaign, but i have no time to work on it. For 3.0 version planned next:
- Fleet Air Arm Pacific campaign
- US NAVY escort carriers campaign
- Burma, Borneo and probably Palembang campaigns.

Then, copy files from "Files for Mod version" folder to your DGEn folder. That's all!

And there's second way to use campaign mod version. If you have troubles with mods installation (like me:) ), you can download my mini "modpack", created especially for campaign, by this link:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/nbalnm89nlx4w0q/Motorhead_Mods_1.0_for_Pearl_Harbor-Tokyo_2.0.rar
put "Mods" folder from this archive into your HSFX root folder (previously make backup of Mods folder, if you have it), and that's all - now you have all additional maps, ships and aircrafts.

Then, copy files from "Files for Mod version" folder to your DGEn folder. After that you can play campaign mod version.
You always can switch campaign to no mod version, for this just copy files from "Files for no Mod version" to DGEn folder.

People, who help me create Pearl Harbor - Tokyo:
Asura - DGEN author. Many, many Dgen features created by him special for my campaign.
LSA - english briefings translate
blackshark - testing and bug reports
Baffrah - testing and bug reports
Wagner - testing and bug reports
petrov_1981 - testing and bug reports

And of course, all additional mods authors. Thanks for your excellent work!

this looks great - can i just ask, the extra mods you listed there, they need to be added to hsfx before this campaign will work?
in other words, i can't just download the campaign and expect it to work just like that?

By default campaign switched to "no mod" version. You can download it and play without any mods.

This is awesome.  Been waiting for this for ages.  Just a few questions before I install anything.  I am currently using Asura's latest dgen mod.  Does this campaign use default stock dgen or Asura's dgen mod?

Campaign created with close support from Asura, and with help from him. So you must use latest DGEN mod versions by Asura, default stock DGEN not support my campaign.

Hi I am a bit confused.  So what is the difference between mod and non mod version? Currently I have version 4.12 + HSFX 7.02.  I don't have any other mods and don't intend to have anything else.  Should I do non mod or mod version of your campaign?

Campaign both version created especially for HSFX 7.02. No mod version use clear HSFX 7.02 without any additional mods.
Mod version use 3 additional maps, few aircrafts and ships. All this content appears in campaign mod version, only if you download and install it, and "switch" campaign to mod version. How to do it i write in first message in this topic.
By default campaign, when you download it, switch to no mod version.

Hi Motor,

I installed your campaign.  It works but when you start a new campaign, the campaign titles in under "career" are all Russian.  Is there any way to change it to English?

Hi Motorhead,

I have the same little problem than Pandacat here. The good new is that the briefings itselves are in English, so it's not a big issue. I remember I faced this problem once, but cannot remember how I fixed it. If there's a solution, that would be great.
Just for you to know: another problem i faced during install: when putting your "mods" folder into my il2 main folder, I had a crash at 60% during the loading of the game. I fixed it by replacing the "AutoDiffFM_for_4.12.2m" folder from your archive by the same mod in his HSFX's version which can be found in this forum ("DiffFM HSFX 7").
I really thought my poor old rig would not be able to run any of your campaigns, but to my surprise, everything's fine from now (even if I know that I'll face some fps problem in late 1945, with all those B29 over my head). Never saw so big number of ships when taking off for Pearl attack (awfull flak over there).
Now, I just definitly need to learn how to land my plane correctly on carriers...
Thank you a lot to you and everyone involved into this massive Dgen improvment.
