Submarine Stuff

Following a suggestion from LW/JG10_Luny I have been cloning the VIIC U-Boat to see what it would be like partially or fully submerged.
The existing stock "periscope" lacks a proper collision model below water level.
This mod retains the full model but just lowers its level.
An additional version could be done with only the periscope showing but with the full model, at least the collision meshes, retained below water level.
Still a few things to check out, like how it performs when bombed, and the ships wake to improve.

Wow! Great work! :)

Maybe the "only periscope version" could substitute the stock periscope.
Another thing is that a submerged submarine with only the periscope above the water can be easily detected by airplanes because they can see the underwater silhouette:

Excellent!

Is it possible to have a damage model, so that it could be destroyed by cannon fire / rockets ?

I feel like typing "Aaarruggggaaaaa, aaarrrugggga, aircraft at 5 o'Clock medium Distance & Alt, incoming, Dive Dive Dive now! All hands to combat stations..." etc.. oops, I did (friendly bump)

Submarine at periscope depth, especially when it is using snorkel, can be seen easily from air. Apart from bombs and depth charges, aircraft can strafe to pinpoint the sub's location to nearby destroyers. Any Silent Hunter player will tell you that: if you see a destroyer from far away, you can still stay calm and even try to ambush it. If you see an aircraft from far away, forget everything else and go to 50m depth righ away :P

Hope it can use torpedos! The Stock periscope doesnt... that guides me to the thought why its there at all. Well... it would be Awesome when we could make a Convoy that gets attacked by Submarines and we have to hunt them or something... :D

Adding torpedoes would be fairly easy.

what about update java code about animation submerge/surface? Animation is done when is ship damaged.
But propably will be need make any AI logic when "capitan" give decide about submerge u-boat or stay on water and fight with AA´s or guns.
