Hideous inacuraccies everywhere, Japanese Gato class sub, New Jersey class battleship and the B29 CGI is also very ordinary. That in turn makes me wonder about how the actual facts about this tragedy will be represented....
It IS a story worth telling as is the undying efforts by the skipper's son to clear his father's name. There was a really good documentary made for television about the Indianapolis and I taught  year 10 High School students about the significance of the Indianapolis story in modern history for at least a decade.
I really hope they might make more of an effort with getting things, even the details right. Otherwise we lose the truth about the past....like Pearl Harbour the movie for example.....Hollywood History.

I hate the way hollywood throws accuracy to the wind

There was an earlier TV movie Mission of the Shark made in 1991 which I recall was good for it's time
