if you access the base.mat file of the Suribachi object, you can increase the visibility distance by adjusting the value in the [Layer0] VisibleDistanceFar xxxxx.0 line. that should help.  ;)

Thanks Malone for the help as always :)

Hi mates!

Just a little advise about the visibility distance?

If I increase the [Layer0] VisibleDistanceFar from 10000 to 20000 for example it make the object visible from a further distance or it is anyway related to the visibility distance of the conf.ini?

Thanks in advance!

hi walter!
i haven't tested it too much, but it does increase the distance from which you can see it, whether it will ultimately be controlled by the conf settings, i have no idea... :P

Hi my dear friend!

I'll try to test something on conf.ini as soon as possible!

Can you or someone confirm that the max value is 3 or can be set some higher value?

All the best!

Thanks Malone but it seems the game engine limits the max. viewdistance from 3d objects.
I try VisibleDistanceFar 64000000.0 but suribachi still pop up at ~20 km.

yes - seems it is limited, i can't get it more than ~20km myself... :(

WhiteCat, a question - although the Suribachi Mt appears on my stock Iwo map, it doesn't with your repaint versions. d'you know why this is?

Yes, I saw something strange at long distances but my configuration was a mess. I have to test what you say above guys and I'll give you feedback. The Suribachi object has different textures, apparently to use at different distances. I have to check, I'll get back to you guys if I find anything, thanks :)

well, in your Iwo maps, it doesn't display at all....i can be flying right over where it should be, but the land is flat, with no Suribachi to be seen anywhere....
it's a bit weird - like i said, my stock Iwo map has it, and if i use another Suribachi repaint it will appear changed in the stock map, but still no sight of it on yours.... :o
a screenie says it better:

Well it's not like that at all in my installation! The Suribachi is an object, is controlled by the actors.static And my Suribachi is a new object you have to add also to the static.ini Have you check that?

yes, i have a static Suribachi....but it's a horrible texture (almost black and white)...so i removed it.....the problem is this separate static object would replace only the stock map Suribachi...and still there would be nothing on your versions.... ???.....really weird.
here is my static entry, although the object i have is the ugly re-tex'd one, and if i remove the re-tex'd one, the stock map displays the one in the screenshot - so that one is obviously standard with UP....

Ok, follow the instructions in the readme then. You have to add 2 new Suribachis, I can't remember the names now but they were something like whc_suribachi_pre and whc_suribachi_inv. I created them to avoid the kind of problems you mention above. My map calls them in the actors.static. The inv one is less green and even has some craters on top. Please delete my previous iwo maps, download the last version and follow the readme :-)
