Hello Mixx, :)

Firstly, thanks for your work.

The problem I had was my placement of the required object folders. I usually keep all objects in Files/3do/buildings etc, with no problems, but the objects in question turned out to be the exception. After quite a bit of faffing around, I managed to stumble on the correct location (Mods). I think the situation arose with the need for simultaneous multiple object/map installations, which are more likely to lead to errors; especially with dozy buggers like me! ;D Hopefully, I'll accidentally find the right way to get ag's last two fantastic maps functioning properly.

Cheers mate.

I did have something unusual happen while building a mission in FMB for the Djibouti Map. When the mission was nearly completed, I found that that the FMB menu bar disappeared when I zoomed out. When I zoomed back in the menu bar came back. There were other windows open on the screen, like the object or conditions boxes, which also disappeared along with the menu bar. I tried to get a screen shot with the console on but I got a black image instead. The only console statement that suggested a problem said, "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException".

Also at this time, "4>" appeared at the bottom of the console statements and when I tried to type in a mission description, the menu boxes appear in the upper left corner for certain alphabets (type "f" and get the menu for "Load Map", "Loading ...", etc, type "e" and get "Conditions", "Description", etc., and type "v" and get "Object", "Landscape", etc.). All other letters show up in the description box as normal.

Note that I had Frog's Formation Mod installed at the time and had used the mouse wheel zoom feature extensively. When the problem occurred, I closed the game and disabled that mod. When I re-opened the game, I was able to complete building the mission with no problem. So, it appears that there could be a compatibility problem.

In any case, I do like Frog's mod. So, I re-instated it, but avoided using the mouse wheel zoom when I started building a second Djibouti mission. I had no problem, when I zoomed in and out the old fashion way. However, just as I was close to completing the mission, I tried the mouse wheel zoom a few times, but failed to reproduce the previous problems. So, I think it may be a matter of how many times you use the mouse wheel zoom that determines whether or not you have some kind of memory upset.

So, I'll keep Frog's mod enabled, but minimize the times I use the mouse wheel zoom when building a mission on the Djibouti Map. I have not had this problem with the mouse wheel zoom on other maps, such as the Madrid Map.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Cheers,

Riptide

... I at last managed to get rid of my stutter simply by reverting back to my previous DLLs ...!!  :P

You know the ones at the root of the game.

Don't ask me why this did the trick 'cause I have no idea ... ::)

I can now at last relish on this magnificient map and who knows I might as well fly alone aboard one of those redko sponsored biplanes ...  ;D

Now if somebody has any idea why I get an error message saying "can't open Maps/_Tex" when I desperately try to load Mr.O's Tunisia map don't hesitate to tell me ...  ;)

THX again Agracier, very peaceful map ... :D

When a map won't load, the error message at the bottom of the screen, below the mapframe, doesn't really tell you much. The best thing to do is hit <shift>+<tab> at the same time. This will bring up the java console. You will get a multitude of lines of white text. Near the bottom of the list will be a line saying something in the order of 'Error ... cannot yadda yadda ...

I'm betting it will be something like 'cannot find texturefile xxxx.tga... ' and it will then give the name of a missing or misnamed texture file ...

But whatever it says, see if you can figure it out or else post the text and ask for some help.

THX Agracier, but this is the error message I get now that I have found and installed all the missing textures, with landscape load ini error ...  ::)

I went as far as replacing ALL .tgas in the load ini with redko's desert ones just in case but to no avail ...

Anyway, i don't want to sort of spam your thread with probs that have nothing to do with your outstanding map ...  ;)

Bombsaway,

Regarding your shallow water mod, the instructions say, "Place textures in the water folder ... Maps/_tex/water". However, my "_tex" directory did not have a "/water" subdirectory. Given there is a line in the map's load.ini file that refers to a "water.tga" file, can you tell me where I can get a copy of this file? If I have understood correctly, I need a copy of water.tga in the /_tex/water" subdirectory to make the mod work.

R_One: if you don't have a Water folder in your _Tex folder you need to create one and drop Bombsaway texture in it. Now it should work.
Forget about the missing water.tga. That must be somewhere in the .sfs files.

Uufflakke,

Thanks for you comments. I have tried this, but I don't see any improvement. I am using UP 2.1.

Thanks for you comments. I have tried this, but I don't see any improvement. I am using UP 2.1.

Here's an easier method. Copy the new shallows texture into the texture folder for the map you wish to use it in. In this case put the new shallows texture in .../_Tex/ag/Djibouti_2/

Now open the load.ini of the map in question and go to the bottom where you see the [Water] entries:

Water0 = water/water.tga
Water1 = water/water.tga
Water2   = ag/Djibouti_2/BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_F.tga
Water3   = ag/Djibouti_2/avalabeachrock.tga

This is how it should look, if you have copied the new shallows texture into the Djibouti texture folder ... the line Water2 governs the use of shallow water textures. Make sure the name of the texture is correctly written in the line for Water2 ...

agracier,

Your instructions were very clear and I followed them exactly. However, nothing changed when I restarted the game. I double checked that I had modified the load.ini in the ... /Maps/ag_Djibouti/ subdirectory as you specified and confirmed that I added BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_F.tga to the .../_tex/ag/Djibouti_2/ subdirectory. Let me know if there is something else I should try.

Cheers,
