Out of topic, but last night i made a 1 hour flight in this map, earing Philip Glass in background...that was perfect.
Thanks again Agracier. I think i will try some of my desert textures on this map, just to see what it makes.

Bombsaway,

First of all, thanks for your input.

I checked my Djibouti load.ini with what you have posted line for line. The only difference is in the section on water. Below is what I have:

Water0 = water/water.tga
Water1 = water/water.tga
Water2 = ag/Djibouti_2/BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_F.tga
Water3 = ag/Djibouti_2/avalabeachrock.tga

I replaced a line referring to "Mad_A.tga" and used "DeadCoral_F.tga" as oppose to "DeadCoral_G.tga". Also, I did not include the "-2" after "DeadCoral_F.tga". However, if I understand correctly, these differences should not prevent me from seeing some version of the new shallow water textures.

I did run a search for a "Water.tga" file in my \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 directory and found no such file. I would like to try putting this file in the "...\_tex\water" subdirectory with "BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_F.tga" and "BA_Shallows_DeadCoral_G.tga", but I need a copy of "Water.tga" to test that remedy.

If there are alternatives I should try, please let me know.

 Cheers,

Riptide

Sure go ahead ... the more versions the merrier ... if you like what you make, show us how it looks too.

You should also try flying with any of the many versions of Lily Marlene and Vera Lynn wartime songs. Period atmosphere and all that ...

The files and directory you're looking for are encoded in sfs files. They are loaded by the game at startup or something, but cannot be directly accessed.

But no problem. Here's a link to a directory containing the water.tga files and a bunch of other ones useful water textures as well.

Unzip and place the directory 'water' thus:

...MODS/mapmods/maps/_Tex/water/

I fiddled a little bit with Agracier's test mission pack and LeOne's, there is of course no historical whatever here ...  ;)

Please Red, not more than 2-3 missions a day, otherwise you will get distracted and the revamping of M.Oblongo's Tunisia map will get delayed ...  :D

Mmm  ::) at least i have a little time to play....
This map deserves a real campain and not just quick missions, we arrive to fast in combat zone and there not enough flight time to discoverd a little the map.

Since agracier's Djibouti is a fantastic map I like to post screens.
Sorry, I fly jets 99%. ;)

The last shots are with minor colour edits. The map is great as it is and I will not pork it by adding more changes.

Water colour is edited after reallife impressions from google and a French Armée de l'Air pilot's shots.  The latter indicate that shots taken in flight at typical fighter altitudes usually look hazier and less saturated..

Decided to post my fixes since it's worth it.  :)
Lovely map, now looks a tad more saturated to brown and water closer to real.

Some RL shots..

The shots I collected a.o., some really kickass from all over Google:

If any shot infringes copyrights, I will delete the entire folder and take back the link.
In case I am not able to do so I ask the moderators kindly to do so.

Download link.
Credits:
Agracier, Bombsaway and whomever I forgot.
Note,...that's not a real mod, rather a slight makeup. Added Bump.H files, slightly recoloured tex and changed water as for shots.

Note from a real pilot of the Armée de l'Air:

"EDIT: For info ... those pic has been taken during an incredible good visibility day...

But "most of the time", moisture % are so hight, that at FL150 you can't see the ground ... sky and below is completely white!

Djibouti"...

http://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?11207-Somalia-Theatre/page4

So my advice is to set weather to hazy and disable clouds or fly with clouds, gives very immersive colours, also cloud setting as in readme of the mod.
