This is really looking good.
I love the artwork on the area map.
The extra 30km north, east and west really opens up a huge range of mission building options.

-- but you should change the name on the post to GilB57-BoF to Ardennes 1944.

If you agree, I would like to rename the map "WestFront" followed by the war period ?
(the first will be "WestFront-winter44")...

S! Gilb57 & asheshouse:

Great to see some work being done on this map.  This is one of my favorite maps in IL2.  We use this for early war and mid war scenarios.  I am not a programmer but I have flown this map quite alot over the years and have found a few bugs that would if fixed would make this map even better.

Many of the railway lines were blocked and incomplete.  So a train would not run correctly.  Also some of the runways had trees covering them and were not level.  Asheshouse did a fix for the runways and was kind enough to pass that along to me back in July.  I just would hate to see some of the same errors repeated in the new maps.  We utilize these maps in campaigns so it would be most helpful to have the railways and airfields correct.

PA_Dore has done extensive work on reducing the actors static and added industrial buildings on Ashes map so it would be adaptable to the SEOW campaign program.  He is also a great resource regarding the railway blockage problem.

Hope you get this addressed and thanks for your work.  If I can be of further assistance please feel free to pm me.

S!

The "errors" you mention were I think all outside of the completed Part 1 area.
I exchanged notes with PA_Dore earlier in the year and corrected all of the rail anomalies which he had identified. He has the updated map_T.

GilB57 is however doing a complete re-work of the map including populating, at a lower density, the entire map area and re-texturing all of the map in a much higher quality style.

The extended map boundaries, south of the R Aisne, north of Arnhem and east of Duisberg will be very useful for all sorts of mission building, including better coverage of the Battle of France, bombing raids from England to the Rhine and the whole of the Market Garden area.

Its a big task that GilB57 has taken on but I'm looking forward to seeing the results of it.

The farthest cities now included are :
-North: Apeldoorn
-East: Essen
-South: Reims

Some new airfields are consequently available. Recently added for the 1944 map : Deelen (north Arnhem in the middle of the forest) and Twente-Enschede (extreme north-east)

I'm currently doing the rail/roads network.

Tested on 4.10 :

It works  ;D
The map has now its first operational airfield : Waalhaven (the Do217 AI flight took off, made a tour around Rotterdam, landed and parked successfully    8)

The WIP for this map may go to 4.10 factory some day  ;)

Here's the final (I expect) map for the winter44 battle :

I'm searching for plans/aerial photographs for late 1944:

-Deelen
-Twente
-Lohausen
