Evergreen Air & Space Museum, McMinnville, Oregon
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:46:12 PM »

I'm lucky to live near the Evergreen Air & Space Museum, in McMinnville, Oregon, home of Howard Hughes' H-4 Hercules "Spruce Goose", and thought I'd post some pictures from there.

Very Very nice photos there mate, I'm guessing the Giant plane there is the Spruce Goose! :o
It's enourmous, reminds me of those russian Ekranoplans but I bet it could dwarf them.
And the shade on the F-84 underside made it look as if it blended into the background and floor lol.
Thanks for sharing. :) 8)

Thanks!  Yeah, it's enormous- being an old prop plane seems to make it feel even bigger than it is.  It would have been something to see it on it's one brief flight!  And you're right, there is a similarity between the Spruce Goose and the giant Ekranoplans, which might have been a better direction for Hughes to have taken!

Thanks for the pictures, I haven't been there in a year or so, forgot how much stuff they really do have there. That and Paul Allens collection at Paine Field are my two favorite museums I've been to yet.

I think I'll take a drive to mcminville soon, usually just fly there for touch and go/pattern work.
