Killer addition CY6. One of the "must haves" on my list.

I'm using 1.07 and seem to have discovered a bug (haven't noticed mention by anyone else) with the Gunner (GNR) component. Whenever I get shot down (and believe me, it happens alot) the game freezes right after my a/c hits the ground. I have one GNR component for each side within the mission (as one can fly red or blue).

Only when I disable GNR in stationary.ini will the game continue to run after my a/c goes in.

I can easily reproduce the freeze by reenabling GNR.

Any known issues?

Tried this magnificient mod last night and it IS magnificient. Night fighting is much more doable and immersive now. The airbone radar in the last patch is much more limited (and realistic) than in previous patch. It's an unique feeling to follow your instruction in total darkness, keep your speed low so you don't overshoot. 600m, 500m, 400m, damn the SN-2 refuses to work, but luckily I have the old trustworthy FuG-202 as well. 300m and a dimmed sihouette of a B-24 is finally detected. The enemy doesn't see us, not yet. So I come in close, a little beneath it and use my Schräge Musik to set its wing on fire. 2 seconds later, I hear a loud bang: the doomed B-24 crashs in me, a much too well known risk of attacking from below. Needless to say I'm dead in the crash :D

Glad you're having fun with it ;) Just wait till you go hunting for Halifaxes...

I should also note that the SN-2b "includes" the FuG-202, hence the shorter minimum range...

I found it interesting how the German radars tended to be shorter range but wider angle, while the allied radars have a long range but a very narrow cone... maybe because they were designed for chasing single targets, rather than maneuvering in bomber streams...

Ok, new version (1.08), with a few small fixes. DZ is now a "column" rather than a "dome", so you can erase high-flying a/c with it, also made SPR and GNR objects only work when flying multi-crew a/c or single seaters with a wingman.

Gromic, I couldn't replicate the error you mentioned, so maybe I fixed something accidentally. Let me know if you have the same problem and send me the mission it occurs in.

Copy CY6.

Just downloading 1.08 now but won't be able to try it until Wednesday at the latest. Will send you a copy of the mission ASAP when I get the chance. Thanks for looking into it!

BTW, your flakmod is awesome and works a treat.

Cheers

I've been toying with the idea of making the GCI give directions only to the nearest enemy plane relative to the player. I think this would create a more realistic "guided intercept" feel when there are multiple enemies within range. It would also allow for larger radar networks since you wouldn't get messages about planes hundreds of kilometers away when there are ones right in front of you. It would also let the GCI "cut out" when you get close to the plane you're tracking...

What do you guys think?

CY6.

Sounds like your on the right track with that. Maybe even make a player command like a key or a 'pauke pauke' option in the communications menu to signal gci to cease directions until the bomber is down

I think that's a little beyond me, especially since it would interfere with Frog's excellent formation mod, or have to be integrated with it...

I like your idea CY6.  GCI would normally concentrate on vectoring you to one intercept target - be it a single, or a group of airplanes - and they would not give you info on other targets because that would confuse you and screw up your situational awareness.
