Carrier Take off
« on: February 16, 2011, 07:42:27 PM »

In my modded UP201 JSGME 4.09 game I have been trying to set up carrier take offs for the better part of a day now with no luck.

I have read all the posts here at SAS and gone to: http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/index.php

with no luck.

the carrier take off mod is built into the UP201 mod but my plane still ends up starting off in the ocean right next to the carrier which sails away.
its not a question of way points but the game does not recognize the carrier as a runway or home base.

this is very annoying, this should be very easy since Pacific Fighters came out years ago
but apparently this most basic game feature is not easy to set up
which is perplexing.  :P

1. Are you trying to setup an AI flight or a DF home base?
2. Have you used the set button on the AI flight to attach it to the carrier?

You want to know how to set a carrier takeoff?
-Change the waypont from "Normal" to "Takeoff", and set the "Target" to the ship =D
(Or you ask something else what I'm not understood? >_>)

I assumed you meant catapult takeoffs, since carrier takeoffs are just a matter of setting the carrier as a takeoff waypoint target, like in the stock game.

I do not want catapult take off!

I just want to set up a flight of 4 planes in FMB with me in the first plane, and to take off from any
moving carrier, selected from the FMB "ships" menu.

Very simple I would think, but not - why do you have to trick the game into letting you take off
from the deck of a carrier?
Pacific Fighters "should " have made it as simple
as selection the FMB carrier as your home base and that should be it.
But F____! No! its some complicated process that makes Pac Man look more technologically advanced!

I'm not asking for open canopy mods and default skins from Axis & Allies Paint works for all AI aircraft here,....just a basic flight option in the PTO.

Why the F should modders have to make mods or post complicated instructions just to fly a Navy plane off of a carrier
in a game platform that has at its root a game called Pacific Fighters? >:(

Calm down man...
It has really nothing to do with mods or modders at all. How to take off from a carrier is explained in the manual included in the officiall game since ages.
Just read page 62 of the PF manual:

CARRIER OPERATIONS

In order to get aircraft to take off or land on aircraft carriers, you must follow these simple
steps:
1. Set up the waypoints for the aircraft carrier.
2. Set up the first or last waypoint of the plane’s
flight next to the carrier; first waypoint for takeoff,
and last for landing.
3. In the Waypoint tab of the plane’s properties,
set the Type drop-down to either Takeoff or
Landing, then set the target to the aircraft carrier.

Make sure you're the first flight taking off from the carrier ; if there is another flight (AI) taking off from the carrier at the same time, you will start in the water. That's what happened to me  :-\

How could there be an AI flight taking off if I didn't put it there?
