is the modact required to make this work? i put the model files in mod folder and class files under the 3do folder but only seem to be getting the akagi paint on both akagi and kaga. even tried renaming 1942 file to 1941 and get no change at all.

abinas, when you say 'classfiles under the 3do folder', can you clarify please: are the classfiles now sitting at the same folder depth as the 3do folder, or are they inside the 3do folder?
either way, yes, you need at least a modact install, or a pack, because no mods will work without either of these.
what i mean by that is, if you have no modact, or not using a big mod pack, that only leaves a stock game. NO mods will work as is with the stock game.
they need at least a Modact (the name should explain it already - Modact - Mod Activator)
what game version are you running, please, and which mods/Modpack/Modact?

I am using expert hsfx 6.0.17 with patch 4.11.1
in jsgme i have enabled
hsfx history mod
hakenkreuz enabler
perfect map textures
carrier takeoff 5.5
expert mode
i installed modact 4 and modded the files in the sas folder according to readme in the ship wesijnCvpack and enabled it and classfiles in jsgme and tried starting game with the selector. the readme for the selector was damaged so im not sure what selection to use so just went with classic mode.
oh im also using il2dg campaign generator
however the carriers still dont show in game, i am sorry if im being a pain.

i will again hold off on advising further, as i do not currently use HSFX, so it's better that someone using it can give you the correct advice.

My install is HSFX 6.0.17 with v4.11.1

I use a "Classic" mod set up to add new mods to it.

With "Classic" setup you usually install new mods in root\MODS folder, not root\#SAS.

I have no experience of installing SASModAct over an HSFX install, so I can't comment on whether your setup will work.

well i went back to just hsfx and do seem to have the ships working, at least in full mission builder.
In game is driving me insane, no matter what I change or swap around the akagi is painted in 1942 colors and the kaga is just a clone of akagi and it wont use the correct model.
I even swapped the 1942 file for the 1941 and kaga then appeared as a destroyer?!!
I do know that at least akagi is working since turned gray and the small single aa guns became double, but it too refuses to change colors no matter what i edit, but all configutations show properly in fmb
Is anyone else having these problems or is it just me?

Regarding Akagi -- Look in the model folder. Do you have skin1o.tgb? If this is not present then the game engine will load the existing one from the SFS files.
If it is present, then open the file in a graphics editor to see if it is the correct skin. You will need to rename it temporarily to skin1o.tgb.tga in order to open it.

I don't understand how Kaga can appear as a destroyer. That is odd.

yes the skin is there, i've never seen anything as stubborn as this game. I could live with the skin problem right now but the incorrect models are whats drivin me nuts.
I tried the original pearl harbor raid the kaga was still an akagi clone, so i dont think the campaign editor is the problem.
for some reason my game is ignoring the references to kaga

You have an odd problem I have the same stuff installed in HSFX6 but do not have your problems.

v4.11 does not have a Kaga model.
HSFX6 does include Kaga

The *.ini and *.properties files for HSFX6 are in root\Files\com and root\Files\i18n
You should not have made any edits to these files.

Your added mods and the *.ini *.properties files are in root\MODS?
The only changes you have made should be in root\MODS

Disable your added mods by renaming MODS to -MODS

Now if you look at the Kaga model does it appear ok? -- Assuming HSFX6 loads normally.
Note: Kaga is not a completely authentic model.
It is a clone of Akagi, but with the bridge structure moved to the other side and a new skin provided.

yes my changes were made.in root mod folder. one thing i just thought of is, i had the same.problem as londo with the vanishing ships and edited the same class file with a - as he did.
cod that be my problem?

ok i removed the mod folder and the paint went back to the green aa guns went back to original, however the kaga remains an exact copy of akagi.
in mission builder kaga looks totaly different with island on right side and different paint 8(

This indicates that HSFX6 is correctly installed and you are seeing Kaga correctly.

What exactly are you looking at when you say this

Are you running a mission?

Missions originally created in the stock game (or earlier versions of HFSX) will not have Kaga included because it is not in the stock game.
The mission will not change to include the Kaga model automatically. You will need to open the mission in FMB and make the changes yourself.

If it is a mission file causing the problem then post the contents of the *.mis file.
It will be easy to change.

As an example both of the stock missions 09_PHW1.mis and 11_PHW2.mis are created using only Akagi. You can change one of these to be Kaga using FMB.
