Ploesti Objects Anyone?
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:23:37 PM »

Is anyone out there interested in generating Ploesti Objects?

1940s vintage Oil Derrick:

Accurate to Ploesti ...

Pipes... on ground level and elevated

Lots of interesting Ploesti industrial objects visible here :

Anybody interested...now we have the B24D?

I believe that some of these objects are already in the game. I know there's an oil well and, of course, we have a variety of tanks.

Oil refinery, oil field and chemical factory objects would be useful for a number of maps, not just Ploesti. They'd be good for the central Caucasus around Grozny, various Middle Eastern maps, and various synthetic oil plants that German built during the war.

What is needed are:

Oil/gas pipelines - single and multiple pipes elevated and ground level: straight, 90 degree left, 90 degree right, S-bend right, S-bend left, 45 degree left, 45 degree right.

More varieties of oil/chemical tanks - including tall, skinny tanks.

Tank blast walls for various sizes of oil tanks (like in the bottom photo of Korpdorfer's post).

"Mule" type oil pump.

Wooden oil derrick - like in Korpdorfer's big picture.

Several different refractory column objects - like in the Korpdorfer's bottom picture.

Big fires and massive black clouds or smoke columns to simulate burning oilfields/refineries.

I think I already seen the 1940s vintage Oil Derrick in one of the maps posted once.

+1 vote for more variety in big tall oil/chemical tanks would be nice to see, alongside some pipes.
I think everything else inside the "objects toy-box" can
be made to look like those things as shown in the photos. There is so much already in the box I lose track myself.
I have to make a new catalog soon to see what´s in there.

Just to note, protective walls for oil tanks will be nothing more than decoration unless they have a DM.

I've messed around a bit with creating the objects I mentioned, but my 3d skills are for crap.

From 177 B-24's 162 made it to the target and 53 B-24's were shot down and 660 soldiers were both KIA or POW/MIA.

I found on a romanian forum that a IAR-80 pilot 'sublocotenent aviator Carol Anastasescu' after being wounded and his plane damaged he enterd in the front of a liberator engine and his plane could succesfuly crash land and the pilot woke up in the hospital.

The archive site that contained the exact numbers of romanian air and terestrial defence units is now down so no data about that sorry.
