HMS Fiji - Light Cruiser v1.0 - 17-03-11

Credits:   Original 3D model and skinning by Melissa.
Secondary Guns, Directors and various details,
             LOD's, shadow and collision meshes,
Class files and installation by Asheshouse

HMS Fiji was a Light Cruiser of the Colony Class and the first of a total of 11 built to enter service.
She was launched in May 1939 and during her service spent time in the Atlantic and Mediteranean theatres. She was sunk by German bombers off Crete on 22nd May 1941. Although low on ammunition she had been sent back with another Light Cruiser HMS Gloucester to rescue crews from the destroyer HMS Greyhound which had been sunk earlier. Both Gloucester and Fiji were also sunk.

To quote Admiral Cunningham, the commander of the British Mediterranean Fleet, speaking of events around Crete and ship losses in particular --  "It takes three years to build a ship, but 300 years to build a tradition,"

In total around Crete the navy lost 3 cruisers and 6 destroyers and suffered damage to seven other vessels including the battleships Warspite and Valiant.

Armament:   12 x 6in (4x3)
                  8 x 4in (4x2)
                  8 x 2pdr PomPom (2x4)
                  6 x 20mm Oerlikon (6x1)
                  6 x 21in Torpedo Tubes (2x3)

There is a Readme file in the ShipAshe folder.
Note: This ship is included in the HSFXv5.0 Pack (or so I was told)

Many thanks to Melissa for providing me with the original model to work on.

My Uncle, now sadly passed on,  was one of the few survivors of HMS Gloucester from that action.

You should not install ShipPack2 with HSFX5.0
The ships in it are already included in HSFX5.0
All that will happen is that it will load more slowly.

The "Fiji" version which was in ShipPack2 was a Frankenship version.
The latest version is built from scratch and is a better representation of the real thing.
