S!

We had a tough challenge conquered tonight when we successfully landed 4 B-29's on an Essex class stationary carrier.

There is an anecdote about an RAF Avro Shackleton. It was on one of those long Atlantic patrols after several hours of boredom in a noisy cold aeroplane over a featureless cold ocean, they finally spotted a NATO exercise and decided, just for something to do, to make a pratice approach on a US carrier.

The carrier crew spotted the incoming shackleton and went into emergency mode. Any brand new fighter jet on the deck was pushed over the side to make way. The RAF crew, realising the idea that this was only a practice hadn't been properly communicated, rapidly throttled up and raised gear, fiinding another part of the ocean to lose themselves over.

If that had been for real, quite how the big four engined aeroplane could have been succesfully recovered is a bit of puzzle. Surely the best option was ditch alongside? Or maybe the sea was too rough?

If I move my rudder we may lose a carrier.
