« on: May 16, 2011, 12:07:54 PM »

Morane canopy is historically incorrect. There is a one frame too much.

this must be removed:

Correct canopy:

I don't know about it. It seems to be one and only picture where canopy is this model.

I have to agree with TT that the center frame piece is probably incorrect.

All six pictures at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morane-Saulnier_M.S.406 show the canopy without the center frame piece.  At least two of those are pictures from current museum MS 406s.    It would appear that crazyflak's picture was for a rare model of the plane.

Also if you look carefully at this video   you will see that there is no center frame piece.

A currently flying MS406 does not have it either, see

I search through many results when searching on MS406 and the only place I found the center frame piece is the drawing at

http://www.aircraftdrawingsdownload.com/morane_saulnier_ms_406_drawings.php

That center frame piece seems to be hard to find, except in IL2.

Easy to fix - Choose the skin you want as DEFAULT inside the QMB, fly it and go to the game folder "PaintSchemes/Cache". There, find your plane folder and inside it there's four files. The one you need to modified is the "skin1o.TGA". Use the Photoshop to open it and the trick is here - in the Channel screen search for the Alpha1. The black areas are for the transparences. Paint in black the incorrect frames as you wish. Save it and place the new skin inside the correct directory to make it work. Needless to say you have to allowed the cache copy inside the "Conf.INI" as "ClearCache=0". That's all! Cheers!! ;D

Just to clear up: you say that is the case in ALL 3 variants? There is no variant with the frame as it is now?

 :-[  shame never noticed

True, most pics show that canopy, but then, what variant is this one?

Not sure but probably the photographer Mikael Olrog made a mistake at his website?
I mean, if the canopy belongs to the plane next to it than the landing gear looks completely different from every MS-406/410 I've seen till sofar.

EDIT: on the other hand...maybe it ís from the MS-406  ::)

Google search for Morko Morane images. This IL2 canopy seems to be historical but only in a few finnish planes. If somebody here can read finnish maybe can find the answer in this PDF

There's nothing about canopy. But there is lot of pictures where canopy with center frame is visible.

Hi! I think this canopy with column is only finnish "field" modification of standart MS 406 (first picture). But this canopy is standart of Mörkö-Morane (second picture). - "I think"

Hello can anybody use Photoshop (I never used Photoshop) to make real canopy for MS.406 and upload this file, please?

There is method how do this:

Choose the skin you want as DEFAULT inside the QMB, fly it and go to the game folder "PaintSchemes/Cache". Needless to say you have to allowed the cache copy inside the "Conf.INI" as "ClearCache=0"

Thank you for your help, Jjuurraa
