DBW Request Topic
« on: June 14, 2011, 06:29:51 PM »

Offline players can use this thread to inform the developers of what they would like to have in official DBW updates.

These are the rules for this, and if the rules are not followed, a post can be deleted!

~ You can only request a mod that already exists, and is in finished and working form

~ You must provide a link to where this mod can be viewed

~ You must provide a short description of the mod and motivation for why the mod should be considered (Do not spam this topic with every and all requests you can think of! Doing this may see you loose your posting privs on the whole forum)

~ The mod must not already be contained in DBW (unless you request a specific update)

~ The mod must not already be requested in this topic

~ No "agree with" or "+1" posts to clutter this forum up please. This is not a popularity poll.

~ No non-request or other discussion posts in this thread please. This topic is for making requests, not for discussing them.

~ No online-play related requests will be alowed

Take Note:

~ A request may not be included in an update for a long time or ever. Requesting it again will not make a difference, it will merely eventually serve to have the request totally removed and ignored.

~ Requests that have been included in updates will be removed from the thread.

Handling this thread properly will result in the guys who put together the updates and expantions to DBW, to be able to get a good idea of what players would like to see in DBW.

Enjoy, and take care!

I hate to be the first but I need to know if there is an issue with the open bombdoor mod and Minimap mod by pablo since they are not in the pack. Is it safe to DL them. I though that the UP 3.0 features was in this. I just wondering and if my post sound bad it is because of my bad english I am very happy for this pack  ::)

Minimap is in this topic https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12198.0.html  Freddy`s oxygen mask mod is in this topic also
Open bombbaydorrs mod is an old mod now incoorporated in UP 3.0 and HSFX 5.01 that add a button in controls for open/ close bombbaydoors and you have to open the doors before release of ordonance and I thougth it might be a reson you left it out in this fine pack

errh The request is can these mods be in pack in future theese mod and freddyes oxgenmask mod means a lot to me for the immersion

Hello! Thank you for this awesome pack. In next update I'd like to have the Ki-44 cutoffs and the Wellington. Many thanks!

Would it be possible to have a map selector box in FMB as they have in UP3?

CirX,

I would like to see the F4U-1, "Birdcage", added to DBW. When VMF-214 first arrived in the Solomon Islands, in the spring of 1943, they flew F4F Wildcats. Eventually, they transitioned to the F4U-1 Corsair, but that was back when the group was known as "The Swashbucklers". Greg Boyington was part of a later incarnation of VMF-214 which adopted the name "Black Sheep" in late summer of 1943. From that time, VMF-214 began transitioning from the F4U-1 to the F4U-1A. When Boyington was shot down on 3 January 1944, he was flying a F4U-1A. However, his wingman, George Ashmun (MIA), was flying a F4U-1.

I have not been able to find a place to download the F4U-1. It was included in UP 2.01. I just recently made the transition to 4.10.1 specifically to be able to use UP 3.0. So, I do not know whether or not the F4U-1 is compatible with 4.10.1.

In any case, I believe the F4U-1 has enough historical significance to justify including it in the DBW, assuming the mod itself meets the technical requirements.

Cheers,

Riptide

Couple:

Bomber crew (unique faces on crew) - Slikk (I can upload somewhere if not out there)
Ranwers Carrier Crew (on v5 atm)
Fly_Zos F6F cockpit redo (again, I can provide if not out there). Provides different paint schemes, pictures, mirror, detail up etc...

Map names in QMB and in general are all over the place. There's also maps that may be different, but one might say x_winter and the other x_w appearing to be the same. Any plans to put some naming standard in place?

Also would be nice like in air.ini to put some seperators by theatre....

e.g.
Mapname - season - n     where n is a number when more than one version of a map exists (null otherwise.... )

Seperators - dunno on names, but somthing like:
Pacific
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.
Eastern Europe
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.
Channel
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.

Would make it easier to go through maps and look a lot more professional.. if this is something I could fix just by editing some text files, Point me at em' and I can do and post back up if you like, or if you don't see it as a value. Better for your map expert to do though as I don't know where they belong so much.

Thanks!

Coral Islands
Donbass
SND_1940
Cuba
3BG_KTO

and then one that isn't in MapWorx, but is a few years old...That I stuck in my
SAS 3.0, the original,  large,  Zip_Alpin (not the three piece one)

In making153’s request for the Vickers Wellington, which I want too, he did not include a link so here it is (and it works in my DBW):
 https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html

I would also like to request an additional aircraft that are currently working in my version of DBW, with are:
(these are either prewar or early war aircraft, I have some late model desires too, but I’m probably already requesting too much!)

The early American fighter that competed with the Curtis P-36 and was used in some early Pacific war battles:
Seversky P-35 (by Frankiek – US Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2321.0.html

Additional important versions of the P-40:
P-40F/L (Packard Merlin V-1650-1) & P-40N v2 (by Karaya – US Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2418.0.html

Some early models of the B-25 Mitchell including the Doolittle raiders:
Early B-25s (B-25A / B-25B / B-25B Doolittle Raider) (by SAS~Riken – Twins) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13477.0.html

My favorite version of the Hurricane which seems to fly better than all the others (still wish there was a cannon armed version and a Sea version, but this one is great to fly):
Hurricane MkII Hercules (by Red_Fox90 – UK Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15512.0.html

My favorite Bi-plane which is Skippers Bk-534sea armed with the 20mm cannon:
Avia-Bk-534 Sea (by SAS~Skipper - Aircraft) (Note works in my DBW) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13575.0.html
 (http://dispersalfield.ru/main/index.php/topic,216.0.html)

I want to finish with couple of questions:

Would it be possible to make a separate pack for the WWI aircraft that would be an optional addition to DBW, but would only need to be installed by those that want it?
The link is  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15875.0.html

Also is it possible to request aircraft (and get them included in DBW) if they do not currently work in DBW?

For example I would like to see included in a future update the following:

Martlet MkI & MkII (by SAS~CirX – US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,779.0.html

P-40K Beta (with re-worked tail/wings) (by Beowolff – US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8259.0.html

new Hawk - 75 (by Skipper - US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9077.0.html

Thanks … TS

Is anybody working on adapting the old 4.09 Ki-30 and Ki-51 modded aircraft to 4.101 ?

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

Being able to add these to my DBW folder would be great. Being "built in" would be fantastic.
