Seems to me that FM is OK. But in offline using this Sabre's FM by AI, time to time, is realy awfull.

Ok Aviar, I am looking into other areas to double check and rule things out, but again nothing was really done to the Fury, closing the server that is upto you, the Fury is not the best all round Sabre has it's advatages sure but you can fly others.

Dimary63 don't say awful  :D could you be a little bit more descriptive, like which Sabre Vs which aircraft, loadout, height, map etc the conditions of the fight. From what I have experienced is the AI ask them selves a lot of questions, Can I out climb enemy? Can I out roll, dive? etc so I have been on the 6 of some aircraft and if they cannot beat you at all they will stay still flying level until you hit 0.45-0.40km away then start evading. Try Sabre vs Sabre and see if any thing different happens.

Please keep us posted.

Perhaps this is offtop  to this thread, but realy Sabres AI behavor is  :D - awfull!, in some cases. FM has not to do with it. I,v tryed Migs vs Sabres, Sabres vs Migs, and Sabres vs Sabres, and Migs vs Migs, on the different heights (speaking about offline). Many times I'v got to the AI-Sabre (A, E, F, K, Fury, to 5000 meters height, loadout - default, or IR rokets, maps - Kuban, Smolensk, Jibuti, Pasiphick, middle Med,- no matter what Map playing, no matter what weather was set) nearly 30-100,  meters, and this snake-like maneuvering craft to do nothing drastick for a long time period, as if thinking what to do with me, though (it was seen dence jet-smoke) Sabre going with full throtlle, It aware of me, and of the danger for itself. In the case when I was in a Mig, that it was immediatly fatal for AI Sabre. It's evading of my craft was realy much too late time-to-time and only when I was going too near to him (sometimes during a long time period! :()???. And I have Sert AI mod installed, but don't tested whithout this AI mod for now. When I fly in offline a Sabre myself - than, of course, there is another figthing pattern. I have an impression that offline Sabre's AI offen (but not in all cases, no) are just sleeping, or thinking too much and too long  :D. But it's a pity: such a beautifull jet-crafts, hard adversary, good FM and so stupid AI behavor, especially in low (1000 m) heghts. And all AI-Sabres never do realy long-itself-resques dives using it's big airbrakes, only fatal-for-them short air-dives.

That's a problem with the games AI, not the FMs. There is a new AI mod coming out soon which will fix some of this.

O yes, this not FM problems, realy FMs - are good for IL-2-sim jets! And thank You Anto, for your's news are good too! (it seems that Jet Era needs it's own AI, because AI for WW-II warbirds from 1939 up to 1946 is no good for jet crafts). Sorry for my offtop, delete it, please.

The eventual aim is to make a subsection of the AI routines that are just for these jets. I've had a quick play with them and found how to tell these jets to attack bombers in a manner more appropriate to their speed BUT since editing AI is outside my knowledge, hopefully someone else will have more luck getting better results :)

Anto,
Is the latter just your "dream", or real SAS-team's plan to continue to improve AI?
By the way you wrote in another thread that one more jet besides Mig-21 is expected to come out possibly soon. Could you tell which one?
Thank you for your reply and your (and other modders) work on Il2.

There are multiple jets in the pipelines, many of which have been announced somewhere on this forum. As for improving the AI, there is a group of us working on it at the moment. I've offered to merge the existing AI mods into one package but really do not wish to fiddle with the routines (it is beyond me). A friend of mine from my online squad has been playing with them and has produced some nice results, so he has offered to work on them.

Now for the jets, we do need a bit more. We need to add some extra triggers in that tell AI pilots to start attacks out from further, zoom at higher speeds etc. This is needed, especially for when the MiG-21 is introduced but it can't be done until AI routines are sorted for the rest of the aircraft (as they are needed as a base for the jets routines).

So to answer your question, the reality is there is work going into the AI. Hopefully it can be expanded to create some fast jet specific routines but only after the existing AI routines are improved.
