At 0 feet take a look at the TAS indicator and it will read higher even at 1ft and you will see.

Speed tests are done without external ordinance.
Note than some IL-2 maps are slower than others. For instance Okinawa is a slow map due to atmospheric conditions. Smolensk is much closer to real life for speed however even that is not 100%. Try flying the MiG in the following conditions accelerate to top speed as low as you can preferbly over water on both maps and mark how fast you are going. Then try a shallow dive to speeds above top speed then apply airbrake for split seconds at a time until your speed drops to just above top speed then see how far the speed reduces or maintains and you will have your rough top speed.

Well tested at Smolensk no ammunition 50% fuel load 5-25m altitude speed around 1048-1052km/h in level flight.

Are you trimming it properly? Are you looking at indicated or true airspeed?

Well I think its true airspeed with the extended hud about the trimming i could keep at 5-10 meters from ground level.

I have taken a look also and agree I get the same speeds. There are different versions of the aircraft in real life where early Bis to late Bis speeds range from 1076-1055km/h. This model was intended to be the almost latest version. The latest version was slower but a slightly better climber.

I opted for the faster and slightly poorer climber (48ms vs 51ms) due to the huge performance in climb difference between the MiG and Sabre causes some undesired affects with ai in that they will climb away plus the Sabres higher top speed made this a better option. The aircraft currently appears to be 20km/h slower than it should be but does not affect its climb. As it stands now it is the July 1949 variant rather than the July 1950. Less than 2% difference is top speed.

If other people wish to test top speeds and make a post that would provide us with a better test group.

Thank you for pointing this out. I will double check all aircraft again and make an update. However as it is not a show stopping critical problem I will have to leave it in the hands of the SAS and UP guys to decide on when to implement the changes.

Thats pretty close then, maybe the pilot should have done some 'paperwork' ('dropping the kids off'/'bombing the porcelain'/'depth-charging the kharzi' etc) before the flight to lessen the wieght slightly.
