POV Mod, let me know what should be done first
« on: July 10, 2011, 08:26:20 PM »

In build 1.2 I included the first of the POV mod I did long ago, now being adapted up to 4.101 and DBW. there is about a 3rd of the cockpits that are viable for it, done so far.

This is for the few guys who use it and like it (like me!). I am not working on it to a plan, I sort of do the POV's as they come up. So, if you are currently doing a campaign or planning one, or realy into some plane of which the POV mod is not covering yet, let me know, and Ill do that plane first for next build.

Please make all the Corsairs, including the British Corsairs MkI through III. Also the Hellcats would be nice to have a good POV. :)

I use the British MkI as a F4U-1 Early version, Just put some USN and USMC skins in the skins folder.

I also notice you didn't have the P-51D's on the POV list, you know that's about as popular as the Me-109's. ;)

And Thank very much for the great work with all these add-ons.

Best regards, rustydawg

Is there a link which details what the POV mod is intended to do?  I am using trackIR and am currently in the middle of the BoB DBW campaign flying the Hurricane.  I notice that with the POV mod enabled, I appear to sit high in the cockpit and I have to "stoop" with trackIR to see the gunsight correctly.  Its kind of like my seat is too high and needs to be lowered.  When I disable the mod, the POV returns to normal with correct view of the gunsight and 6DOF.

Other than the "raised seat" view, I am not sure what the POV mod does as compared to regular trackIR 6DOF?

Please advise.

thx!

PS:  DBW is simply awesome, and I look forward to more!!  :)

Hi Mate

As it says in the readme, this POV mod dont work for trach IR users. It is for us other mouse and hat bunch.

The idea for the POV mod came from seeing the inability for the screen to represent a good wide huiman type vision. I spent a fair amount of time in cockpits of real 109's 190's spitifres, hurricanes,me 262's Bukcameers, mirages, impalas, and I to mention this last one just so as to remind the gods of vengeance that they still owe me one, for being unceremoniolsy dropped from an allouetteIII, in full kit and ammo...

But I did realsi that the vioew we have for these in the game are not very good of flexible. And so, in conjujction with th xy mounse 6dof mod I msde the old POV mod, T

The philosophy of it is to find where the pilots head would be during divvirent flight evolutions. Luckily i can get to climb in the most special and rare planes here is South Africa, cause you know, sll thosse guys wholook after those planes have wifes and girlfriends aand daughters, and a lot of those worship the ground I walk on, I anything can be accomplished.  SO I'd go sit in a Me262 forexampleand realy sit back, on a cussion for parachute, anm
d strap myslef in ( first time in 40 yeasr someone did that)

Then I look at baasic in cockpit functionsliy, how far is this buttons, arounf what must you reach for that, and so on, and try to immrese myself in it, and thent try to get a feel for what th e pilot sees under diffenet cicumstannces. SO it quicly dawned that generally we tend to sit ass high in the cokpits  as possibe. ANd then, to achieve more periferal visssion, and thus giving us a better overall view inside and out, we have to move the pont of view of the pilot as far back as he can go against the seat, and then someime factor in only his eyeballs.

So I tried it once, and the result was wonderfull. Never had I felt so "rat" of the plane, or been able to observe so much around me before. It was fantastic, so I made more and more and sooon they causgt on with a small group of guys. And we are very serui0us about thislittle mod, becase one you understand it , you can neve go back to the stock views for robots and midgets.

I'm a trackIR user and love the POV Mods. I like it that of the pilots really had to lean to the right to look through the gunsite so do I!
