actually, I was definitely seeing the tailflash (CBI, SEAC... whatever...) on P-40s, that was what made me think...

so as I understand it, it may be only certain versions then or old stuff. thanks for that.

Could some one kindly let me know how to see the FW east europe and afrika skins that are in the first post?
 I' ve tried different variations of FW (choosing default skin every time) and different maps but I never came across those particular skins.

Maybe there is a problem with my install?

The F8 and A5 work good, but A8 shows in Channel map (always using QMB here), but does not show in Berlin, Norway, NWEurope (I get blue horizon with trees screen on Normandy QMB). There, I get this instead

just to be sure, Borch, you ask if something is wrong with your install. What install do you have?

so before Crazyflak goes off full blast trying to explain something that would be completely pointless in a proper DBW or UP instaal (since it is all done properly already), and that will at worst get a few guys to panic and start blindly editing their load.inis, for no reason at all.

Also you may notice, if you have DBW, and use the QMBPro, that the qmb missions are seperated into map camouflage types.

Users of DBW and UP3 are still advised NOT to fiddle with their map settings, the whole thing is still in upgrade mode, and in any case, we work long and hard to ensure that those camouflage setting are correct.

So, before we run around in more useless circles here, doing a hellovalot more damage than good, lets srat at the beginning, and find out details about this installation, PC, the mods in it, selector options, ect ect...the whole deal.

Thank You. I am soooooooooooo glad someone finally did this. When I saw the new c-47 default skin, among others I wanted to do cartwheels!!!!! 10 years is a long time.

Just a small request for a future update when the time comes,

A Pacific US skin for the Corsair Mk1 and AvengerMkIII so they have generic Navy schemes when selected as US in Pacific theatre.

Also the P-47B15 could do with a new multi generic (in my eyes, but maybe i'm being fussy ;))

Thanks for this outstanding addition, it has saved me hours and hours making skinmod updates  :)  :)

The skins are great, but please get rid of the Navy Blue Hurricane Mk IIb for the Med.
This colour was apparently used with CBI night fighter hurricanes and maybe with a few converted recon machines, but it is not representative of the normal Malta Hurricane at all.

Hello Guys,

may I add a few toughts to this topic?

Some newly built G-5 was sent directly from Erla-Leipzig to Erla-Antwerpen for installing the AS-engine, which was not unique btw. At Antwerpen they did not only change the engine. They also attached a new Erla-canopy, indicated by the tubular frame at the rear cockpit. And they got rid of the equipment for pressurizing the cabin. To ventilate the now sealed cabin, they added those air-scoops beneath the forward canopy-frame. And they added also small rectangular flaps in the fuselage directly under the cockpit. These flaps ("Belüftungsklappe" in Ersatzteilliste) were moveable from the inside and could be opened to improve airflow. They were regular items on non-pressurized Gustavs. Both features are clearly recognizable on any G-5/AS fotos. And finally they rebuilt the GM-1-device as to deliver MW-50, which is clear from the “C3”-triangle which all G-5/AS had.

As Luftwaffe was not happy with the cabin of the G-5s, at some later date it war ordered to dismantle the compressor for recycling. I do not know, whether the Baureihenbezeichnung of such aircraft was changed from G-5 to G-6. But I don’t think so, as in spite of lacking the compressor, the airframe itself remained different in many ways to G-6. I’ll tend to the Baureihenbezeichnung ”G-5/U2 AS” name.

So whats this rambling of mine about? The in-game G-5/AS lacks two fundlemental features that make a G-5/AS a G-5/AS. The lack of the Erla-Haube and MW-50 (which all G-5/AS had). So, if these could be added to the next batch, it would make it more historically accurate.

My appologies if this is too much to ask or if I offended anybody.
