Carrier catapults...
« on: July 23, 2011, 01:16:47 PM »

Excuse me, guys, but is there any way to activate catapult on Graf Zeppelin, Peter Strasser and other carriers, which should have this function? Because it works on Essex and some other "default" carriers, but not on the new ones...

Thanks for raising this, I've been banging on for ages about the reduced number of working cats in DBW.  Same is true for the Korean carriers.  In earlier incarnations of UP2.0 we had all these features, now we have a reliable cat on the Essex and the Illustrious.  Campaigns and missions for jet era Naval ops are restricted to these as stand-ins for DBW, but what could stand in for the Zeppelin?  Love to see this resolved.

We do have some cats working, which is a whole lot further than the days when we had none.  So I just use the Illustrious and Essex at the moment.

The Collossus does work for modern jet campaigns and missions.  She installs and runs great in DBW.  You can get it here:

This ship, and her catapults, work perfectly within DBW, so we can hope that someone upstairs is listening and she gets considered for the next build.

~S~   ;)
yes fellas they do work, you can copy and paste this if it helps just place it in your mission (i usually place it after respawn times see below , (you can change the cat boost to suite)the external views allow limited friendly views when you set difficulty to closed full pits and no padlock. fast launch AI makes AI unfold wings and move to cat. Cat allow AI saves having to place specific ship names/classes. It looked like you fellas knew already about cats so I won't go on. ie: 1 = on  0 = off.  hope this helps.

[Mods]
  FastLaunchAI 1
  CatapultAllow 1
  CatapultAllowAI 1
  CatapultBoost 32
  ExternalViewLevel 1
  ExternalViewGround 1
  ExternalViewDead 1
  PadlockLevel 1
  ExternalPadlockLevel 1

Gentlemen,

Perhaps their is a missing step in getting the catapults to work on the Colossus. For me, the catapults work only on the Essex, stock CVE's and Illustrious class carriers.

I created a mission for both the Colossus and Valley Forge. Then I added the lines below after the respawn times in the mission file.

[Mods]
  FastLaunchAI 1
  CatapultAllow 1
  CatapultAllowAI 1
  CatapultBoost 32
  ExternalViewLevel 1
  ExternalViewGround 1
  ExternalViewDead 1
  PadlockLevel 1
  ExternalPadlockLevel 1

I believe re-opening the mission in FMB would have erased the "catapult" mod lines above. To avoid that problem, I open the mission as a single mission instead. In both cases, the catapult did not work.

If there is something else I can try, let me know.

Cheers,

Riptide
