Ki-100 Skin request
« on: August 08, 2011, 03:40:56 PM »

I was messing around on google and saw a neat skin hack on AAS that made the Ki-100 look like a Bloch 152. The link was broken and Deutschmark over there told me that the modder who made it had dropped off the radar. Does anyone around here know the skin I'm talking about and have a copy of it?

Yeah, I heard about that; almost as if he completely vanished ;)

But seriously, I do plan to make these available again at Axis & Allies Paintworks, once I do some refinements to my original template. But for now, thanks to Batbomb for lending a hand. As he said, there are many (over 50), so that's a whole lot of updating.

Yeah they look really good. When I first looked them up, I was surprised how close the the planes were to each other, in outward appearance at least.

Thanks Joberg :)

Indeed, the Ki-100's 3D might be a good foundation for an actual modded version of the MB-152. When I did the Bloch 'vis-mods' for the Ki-100, there was no hope for an actual 3d model; but now, perhaps we'll get lucky ;)

Flip the cowling upside down, change the rear cockpit windows, cannons poking out of the leading edges, replace tailwheel with a skid...
Dang!
Considering what some folks (like Ranwers) have shown as being possible, this one seems like it could be a pretty straightforward (visual) mod!

Sorry for the 'wild goose chase', but that's because they are no longer available anywhere. I really wanted to wait until I could do some updates, but fifty+ skins would take quite some time to edit.. with RL stuff, probably be New Years by the time I got around to it.

So I'll see about making them available at A&A over the weekend, and post back here with the link. I've received a few other requests for these, so I'd rather not have folks waiting on a revision that might take forever.. I can always replace the existing pack with the update once it's completed.

For those who do not have this pack, the screenshot above features some of the fifty skins that represent all the major units equipped with the MB-152, in both Armée de l'Air and Vichy schemes (please don't mind the jpeg artifacts, it's an old screenie). Aircraft in each unit feature a individually mapped cammo pattern and weathering, so you won't see the same pattern inflight.. hence why it would take so long to do any revisions. And basically, my revisions would be to make slight adjustments in the tonal values of the paint.. very subtle adjustments. So probably would go unnoticed anyway ;)

I'll keep you posted.

Okay mates, my MB152 Collection is up at Axis and Allies Paintworks, 57 skins total. Enjoy! :)

Edit: Sorry mates, but I had to remove the link due to an incorrect number on a GC2/I aircraft. I'll try to re-upload whenever I get a chance. Again, my apologies for this error.

Edit 2: Okay, the buzz code is corrected; and a hotfix is posted for those who already download, so they don't have to go through the same procedure just for a couple of skins. The current 'full' download now features the correction. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.
