I have DBW and I tried uploading this map.  I dont know what to do here.  I simply put the files PS_South_Vietnam_1968 and _Tex in my DBW folder (this is my mod folder, where my mod a/c go)  Yet I dont see any cool airfields like these.  Is there something else I am supposed to do?

Where is this load ini?  Is this double line a mistake?

The mysteries are many but the proof is in the screenies.  Great work Dixie Capt!!!

This map is already in DBW 1.71 so you only need the updated files in the correct folder structure inside your mods folder. I'm loading my update from: ...\ #DBW\MAPMODS2\maps\PS_South_VietNam\load.ini

Thanks vpmedia but I am afraid you will have to idiot proof this for me.  Bien Hoa is still plain vanilla.  I went to DBW folder then MAPMODS\maps\.  There I droped the "PS_South_VietNam" and _Tex files that Dixiecapt provided.  I also added the line "PS_South_VietNam_1968 PS_South_VietNam_1968/load.ini" to the all .ini file.  Still no joy....

Where did I go wrong?

Sorry, I see it is MissionBug who is driving this train.  Any help would be appreciated guys.   I am at a point of frustration.  Cant figure out why this does not work for me. I expect this to be in the Vietnam South map that came with DBW 1.7...  Is that right?
I am really bacoming a fan of the '19 Farmer.
The cannons rocked the Phantoms and Thuds.
I cant beleive the textures in some of these screenies.  Its like FSX only better.

Thanks all

Here is what I recall from installing it, Maico.

One note: If you try to load this map via the default DBW 1.71 Quick Mission Pro Pal segment, definately I can agree, the 1968 version will not show up, I tried it.
Seems the Quick Mission Pro pal code reads PS_South_VietNam and the PS_South_VietNam_1968 version as Quick mission folder names are read the same way.

But in FMB, it works.

So or similar. Usually, you can simply copy over the tex folder of a new map's tex.
Good Luck..

Hello guys, the map that is actually pre-loaded with DBW is an earlier version of my South Vietnam map, this has since been updated and that updated version needs to be downloaded and installed as any other map.  The 1968 version also needs to be added as a new install into the maps folder, the textures are already in DBW but it won't do any harm to add them to the Tex folder which also resides in the maps folder.
The 68 map will not work unless you actually add the new title to the all.ini.  vpmedia and Tom2 have both given the correct paths to follow for the install so if you follow that all should be ok.

The all file actually sits in the maps folder along with the folders which the individual maps are in as does the _Tex folder.
Note: Some of my map folders were deactivated as an updated version was added.

Not sure what Maico means by "Bien Hoa being plain Vanilla", but it is possible he doesn't have certain objects in his DBW install so the detailing may not be showing, although Dixiecapt actually built it in UP3/DBW so everything should be there.  Maybe adding the sfs Objects files by UP~Boomer could help there, it may be DBW had an update somewhere that was missed by those who downloaded it.  I'm not sure where these files are now, there was a link once in the DBW thread.

As for the QMBPro missions, as has been pointed out only the South_Vietnam folder will show in there, no other naming convention works, it must be coded into the QMB Pro pal mod.
It is possible to work around this though, just re-name the map in the mission files to: PS_South_VietNam_1968/load.ini, that will load the 68 map, however, you will need to alter the missions accordingly in the FMB to use the airfields Dixiecapt made as the original missions were intended for an earlier period. ;)

By the way, for the jet fans, my altered version of the 68 map will be better for operating the Phantom from land bases as I adjusted three airfields to accept take off and landing of the beast.  Check out this thread for details, the map link is on page three I think.

I altered one of the missions in QMBPro for a take off at Bien Hoa:

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

  Big thanks fellow pilots!
After a few hours of horsing around and being frustrated, I finnally got the files in the right place.  I want to sincerly thank all of you who helped and especially those who worked on this exceptional map.
Thanks for your patience and support Mission_Bug, vpmedia and Tom2.
Here are the results for any interested readers.
Before of Bien Hoa in the Vietnam South Map:

And here it is after some SaS magic on the 1968 version:

Now that is just one airfield!  The map is full of them.
My problem was incorect location of the all.ini (See above).  I was looking for the map all over the game expecting Vietnam South to be updated.  WRONG.  Untill you see South Vietnam 1968 in FMB you will not see the new map.  That was my mistake.  So again, let me thank you all for this awesomeness!

Have a great il2 day.
