F8F WIP SKINS
« on: October 31, 2011, 01:19:40 PM »

After all there is no reason to make you waiting.
I've juste uploaded a small pack with a template and 3 skins ( 2 US and 1 French).

They only work with the latest version of Gerd's mod.
Of course they are WIP thus weathering and paint chipping are not completely finished for some of them.
And some details will certainly change when Gerd has finished the UV mapping.
But you can already test them and report any bug you can see.

Download here.

Made this post some time ago.

With the Japanese "what if" fighters available on Damawo blog, I feel we need some F8 Bearcats in historical cammo as WW2 continued to spring 1946, skins following the Hellcat tradition, like this one of the Vf-12:

Or Vf-24:

Possible to help?

Well, I think I'll too busy with the historical ones to make some what-if.
But I'll try.

Hello,

Here is the result of a long week-end of skinning. I've finished completely 3 skins :

VF18 - Langley carrier - 1945

Guided Missile Group (GMGRU) - 1955
(I've made two different versions for this plane. The first one is made from profiles showing the plane with a blue fuselage. But I've also seen profiles of F9F Panther of the same goup at the same period having a grey fuselage. So ...)

VF11 - Tarawa Carrier - 1947

As many pictures I've seen show Bearcat with some paint chipping and weathering effects,  I've tried to give an "smooth" operational look to these planes taking into account that they didn't have to endure the stress of war conditions. I hope the result is realistic.
See you soon for the next skins ...

Thx cool skin! :D

This version skin is more natural weathering & panel lines & rivets from old version. ;)

But, I feel  cowl flap of this skin is not natural shadow.

Please check UV mapping under picture.
