Visualise FM polares?
« on: November 25, 2011, 11:41:29 AM »

Gents,

I am currently building a FM for the F-8A/E
I was wondering if there is a tool to visualise the polares section of the fmd files?
I would like to 'view' the curves of the flight model.
Like Drag and lift.....

Is there a tool like the old IL2COMPARE? Or a spread sheet?

Cya

+1 for this. Though assuming your any good at maths and IL-2 is accurate enough, I guess you could calculate lift on your own, but....who want's to do that?  ::)
From some posts "I've" seen I believe there is a tool, but couldn't you still use IL-2 Compare?

Hi mario71,

The game classes already contain methods to print the Polares data. I myself altered a class-file (don't know whether i can mention it) so Polares-data is printed to the console which can be redirected to a file and then the data imported into Excel to draw beautiful Polar-diagrams. I strongly advocate to do this, because most of in game Polars are totally wrong  ;D !!

Throw me an E-Mail and I can maybe help you (hdaniel_sch@bluewin.ch)  ;)

Best Regards

Hi, via PM could you tell me which class and what I have to modify.
Also, from that I understand it's going to print out direct values of the .fmd file and graph it using estimates for Rate of climb etc, drag.
Therefore this wouldn't be as good for FM making, since it doesn't visualise in-game performance, but rather takes direct values and creates graphs. Of course I don't know, I haven't seen it yet.

Btw, this wouldn't happen to be similiar to ZinfoMod?
