A friendly Heads-up to all FX modders out here :)
« on: December 16, 2011, 04:02:20 AM »

~S!~ All, :)

Perhaps you know me, perhaps you don't..
Still, i've been working (quietly) behind the scenes for quite some time on several FX packs big and small,
including Plutonium and other great mods brought to you so far.
A big part of my work consists/consisted of testing, betatesting and finding the limits of FX modding in IL2. :)

Quite a while ago, my good friend HolyGrail decided to make a video to show you what happens when FX Modding exceeds the hardcoded IL2 Game engine limits.

I hereby wish to present it to you - FX Modders - as a reminder to *always* test your mods thoroughly, and run it ingame.
Good tracks to test are; Kamikaze02, F4F vs G4M, Intro, Me-163 and Black Death as shown in this video.

Clearly you see dissappearing textures and graphics, caused by the over-use of particles.
The same goes for the ingame FPS which suffers badly when running 'volumetric' textures in especially combination with antialiasing and anisotropic filtering.

So, before you start a new FX mod, or release your current one, please make sure that it won't kill the game! ;)

Cheers & happy modding!
