Starting over from scratch.
« on: January 15, 2012, 02:58:17 PM »

I stopped playing about a year or so ago.  I decided to reinstall 1946.  When I left, I don't think 4.10 was up yet.  Also, there is now UP3, and DBW, and they look awesome.  I play exclusively off-line.  I saw, that UP3 is for on-liners, but you need it for DBW.  I have no idea where to start with a totally unmodded game.
If I go at this alone, there will be lots of 70% errors, and a fist through my computer screen.  I'm trying to avoid both.  There is so much info here now, I'm not sure what to look at.  If someone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it!

As someone who did the same just after Christmas, you "only" need to install UP3 and DBW.
DBW is a relative pain as it is so many patches, but still the whole installation can be accomplished totally 70% free. :D

CCDOC, sounds like you're biting off an aweful lot all at once and perhaps feeling overwhelmed. Perhaps you should just start with an UP3 install and take your time studying the forums. Theres enough "game" and mods in UP3 alone to keep you busy for a long long time. Go to the UP3 site and read the installation instructions thoroughly and take your time. You only have to get it right once.  Then, just enjoy the game! There's plenty of time for DBW.Oh, and you dont "have-to" play UP3 on-line. It's great off-line too!

Dude, in a few weeks, we should have things sorted for guys like you. I want to have a one clcik download of all game updates from the CD install up to date on our server, I also want a one click up to date UP3 (root files)+DBW available no later than DBW 1.9. Basically, if a guy installs the gave from his dvd, I want him to be able to download and install two things, and be right up to speed. Granted, those two things will be many Gigs, but Id rather that than having to wade through a dosen smaller files and their respective readme's and instructions.
