FlushMeister's map repaint for some maps in UP3/DBW/v4.10.1m
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:06:27 PM »

Hello all!

Do you still remember FlushMeister's map repaint and bumpification map mod released as one of the first map mods? I like those FlushMeister's textures a lot, but, unfortunately, the old version doesn't work with modified maps in UP3/DBW anymore. Thus, I have now moved FlushMeister's textures to their own folder so that they don't replace stock textures anymore and have edited some maps to use those textures so that we all can still enjoy flying over FlushMeister's ground if we want. This pack repaints these maps: Berlin, Net5Summer, NetMountains, Normandy (three stock versions) and NWEurope and doesn't repaint any other maps. This pack also includes FlushMeister's airfield textures that repaint normal airfields on most maps.

Download (46.08 MB): https://www.mediafire.com/?2edcjbr44h1b6ci
Unpacked size of this pack is 82.7 MB and I have tried to minimize it by indexing textures and removing unnecessary duplicates. However, all FlushMeister's textures are still included with their original resolution.

Install instructions: Just unpack the two folders into your #UP#, #DBW, #SAS on MODS folder and enjoy repaints for listed maps. You can enable and disable the airfield textures independently based in your preferences. You can also install the contents of this pack into your MAPMODS folder if you want.

Compatibility: This pack is compatible with UP3 and DBW. It should also work in any v4.10.1m install with SAS Modact or other system and has SAS FBDSM compatible camouflage settings. If you know how to change camouflage setting from ETO to SUMMER in load.ini files and do it, then you can also use this pack in v4.09m. All modified textures used by this pack are included in the pack, so no parts of UP3 or DBW are needed.

Hardware requirements: These FlushMeister's textures are 1024x1024 textures with bump mapping, so they use more graphics memory than original map textures and may thus cause stutters with 512 MB or less graphics memory. If your hardware can't handle these you may get annoying FPS drops, stutters or paratrooper errors while loading maps. You can try to improve FPS or fix paratrooper errors by selecting smaller RAM usage in selector (smaller Java memory usage means more memory available for textures) and/or enabling texture compression, but I recommend removing this pack if you suffer from those issues while flying on the repainted maps. This pack shouldn't affect plane limit and any IL-2 crashes.

Credits: All credit for these textures belongs to FlushMeister, who is the great artist that created these textures. I just packed these textures to UP3/DBW compatible form and applied them to some maps. I replaced stock textures with the same names in the load.ini files and thus repainted maps should look like in original version.

I hope that some of you like these textures and enjoy flying over FlushMeister's ground! I hope to see some nice screenshots in this thread so that others can easily see Flushmeister's textures in game. You can also suggest other maps that could have these textures or post load.ini files you have modified to use these textures yourself. To apply these textures to your favorite map just add the additional folder name in the beginning of texture paths in load.ini for all those textures that exist in this pack. Then use console or logfile to debug possible mistakes or missing textures. If you want to remove this repaint just on some maps, then just remove or disable their folders inside 'Flushys map repaint\maps' folder.

THX Birdman, as you may know FlushMeister, aka John Wallin Liberto is a true artist, and also the author of the FW190 cockpit revamp on which Claymore based his outstanding pack ...  ;)

At least I have Berlin working OK in my DBW. Thus, please look into your console or logfile to check what your error is.

The scenery is indeed impressive! I don't get noticeable fps drops (768MB in game selector's memory settings), only I get the occasional screenshot crash in realy heavy missions. Great job, congratulations to the artist!!!

That hasn't happened in my IL-2 yet, so we have something different. You can enable logging by changing LOG=0 to LOG=1 in your conf.ini. Then just run IL-2, get that error and close IL-2 after it. Then you should have a new text file log.lst in your IL-2 folder with a more detailed error message written inside. I hope to see that error message to know what is really happening in your IL-2 and to debug this. You should always get something in logfile, even wihtout any errors, so you don't have logging enabled when you can't get that logfile.
