Spanish Fokker G1 SCW whatif
« on: January 26, 2012, 04:02:38 PM »

After a bunch of historic skins for SCW, I had to do this, I'm sorry.  :-[ It was like something itching in my brain and I couldn't go on with historic stuff before releasing it. Actually this is not exactly something for a "whatif" scenario but for a "what should have been" one. Explanation:
Fokker wanted Dutch Air Force to purchase their experimental Fokker G1, but that wasn't probable until  tested in real combat situation. They showed it to a group of Spanish Republican officers in 1936 that decided to buy it after the fair in spring 1937. Spanish Republic buyed 26 planes and paid them in advance, allowing Mr. Fokker to start his production line. Then production started delaying. Meanwhile another republican dealer, through an Estonian officer intermediary, bought them (and paid them) again!!!. Yes, they had that administrative chaos in the Republic, because of all the secret purchasing under the embargo of the Non Intervention Comitee.
Finally, the Republic lost war, Fokker ended 16 of the 26 Spanish planes and re-selled them to Dutch Air Force, that was already fearing a German visit. Of course, Mr. Fokker kept the money of the 3 selling operations in his pocket.  >:(
It was Franco's Government!  :o who realized the bussiness after inspecting the Republican archives, and made a reclamation of the money paid, through an International Court. They got the money back.
Well, after all this, I felt the need of some "poetic justice" to the loosers, so I made this for anybody interested in finding out what could have happened:

They probably hadn't changed much with 26 units, even though they were really innovative and versatile heavy fighters, but It's interesting to try. If you want, you can download them here:

After making the skins, I needed a bit of action, so...

I hope you have as much fun as me  ;)

Interesting story and good skins ... I've often used this G-I in scw missions, but because the plane is so tricky to skin, never had much inclination to skin it ... so thanks for the skins

Thanks. Glad you like them. As you can see, there're still some deffects I couldn't solve, but they were good enough to let them free and I needed the time to skin He-46, for which I have some interesting stuff (sharing when complete ;)).
