The corresponding files
arial10.font
...
Younameithere.ttf

go to this direction in #DBW:

D:Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#DBW\HUD\font

If you Don't have HUD folder and font subfolder, create it.

Play with the sizing, scale and Fontsize must be adjusted manually regarding the Font you want to use.

Warning, 90% of the Fonts out there are missing Characters, beware if you use Forgotten Countries or foreign Language GUI outlook.
My dream one day, let IL-2 use otf/Open Type Font format, and it's breaking boundaries, otf is capable all-in one. Including japanese, corean, chinese and lots of others.

Hmmm, really strange, use DBW 1.7 too, no probs so far

Seems to be culprit on your end, try digging from the roots and read thu this Thread, all explained
and easy to follow, this was the way I get thru it, as I had initial probs either.

the problem definitely lies somewhere between your chair and your keyboard, if done correctly, it will work. a very straight-forward mod. :D

For those using Ecran Wide and wanting to change the fonts for the game, first disable the mod in JSGME, if you're using that to enable the mod.
Next go into that mod's folder, go to the fonts folder, then follow the directions here. Start at Step 5 in that post

I am now using a stencil font to give a more militaristic feel to the game.

EDIT: arial8.font is the file that controls the FMB font.
