Hi experts,

I use the SAS mod activator 2.2 (for a clean 4.09 system) in combination with the button file 3.1.
Using this system all other (online-) pilots but me see my (healthy) plane with a smoke trace after it. Using a clean system or the HSFX4 there is no smoke trace to be seen.
Any hints for solving this problem?

our buttons file is not recommended for online use, because of this and other problems. we are geared more to offline mods.

So i looked for another buttons file and found it in the HSFX pack. It seems to help.

Be aware that some Mods (example Open Canopies) may have some undesired side effect if used online. The trailing smoke has been repeatedly reported. Because of this and some differences in the FM settings our buttons is not recommended for online use. Buttons form packs such as UP1.8 and HSFXV4 have been specifically conceived for online users.

Yes we have had several players at skies of valor lately with smoking planes. and ive asked them to check theire tempest/typhon sliding canopies or button files.
From thoes that have bothered to report back to me the most common reason lately has been the use of the sas buttons with the mod activator.
If any of the stock plains then have modified FMs this would be regarded as a cheat.
Sofare i havent or other of the FS team havent banned anyone yet for the use of the button but it might become a problem so i hope there will be a fix for this.

there IS a fix for this: Use UP1.8 buttons.

Even C6 or HSFX buttons.

If a guy uses SAS buttons on a server where people are using other buttons, and he smokes, he deserves to.

I know you make buttons for both online and offline use if im not totally wrong and if i am right would it be possible at the button download to make a clear warning that theese buttons are for offline and theese are for online use??

I am not going to fill up this forum with legal notices and disclaimers like some american parking lot    The guys who use SAS buttons online do not do it because they dont know better. They do it because they dont give a shit. Nothing I can do about that unfortunately.

Hades does the online stuff. A buttons file from UP would support most of the planes supported by SAS buttons without changing any stock planes FM's and without smoke bug.

Right now there are 2 small problems with the UP buttons file:
1 - it's not available for standalone download. you have to download the whole UP to get it (or ask some UP user )
2 - the current UP1.8 buttons doesnt support the Histomod Korea pack (next one will, according to what I heard)

I have a custom buttons file that is nothing more nothing less than an UP1.8 buttons with added support for those Histomod planes but Im kind of reluctant to distribute it because I dont want to add to the mess of available buttons files... and Hades promised to add support for the Histomod planes to the buttons file that will come with the UP patch (and I guess he will add support for some more planes too), so my custom buttons file is being used to test the unofficial add-on for UP that im building but when the UP patch is released we will use the regular UP buttons.
IMO, the fewer buttons files are around, the better: if people want an SAS-like buttons file that's suitable for online, giving them the UP buttons would be a good solution because it wouldnt add any new buttons files to the currently available choice.

So the simple solution would be if Hades could make his UP buttons file available as a standalone download, and as  the new UP buttons file is probably already there and ready to use (must be so, if the patch is being tested) why not make the new version available already?
It would be even cooler if the UP buttons was added to the SAS dowloads as "UP online buttons file v.x.xx (suitable for publilc DF servers)" as opposed to "SAS offline buttons file v x.xx (suitable for offline and private games only)"... but OTOH SAS is about off line, so there could be a link to the UP buttons download page at the UP website instead of a direct download...
