crusader pack
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:13:48 PM »

Hi all,
I'm new here, but I've been playing il2 for some years now. I have been busy installing some mods, and most of them work just fine. However, now I've found this one:
@edit: Dead link removed and I can't get it to work. I'm playing on 4.10.1 with UP 3.0. I have added the lines in the air.ini folder and placed the mod in the #UP# folder. The game works, no crashes or anything, but I can't find the planes in the selection menu. What could I have done wrong?
Hanzie.

Ugh...
Welcome! Grab a chair and get some coffee...
i looked in our "guestmods" section - we seemed to have had a topic about the F-8 round here, but i am mistaken, there is no such thing.

since the plane was largely made over at freemodding... i guess people are discussing their findings and difficulties over there.

Trouble is, the discussion is already 58 pages long.
Might take a while to read through that.

in fact, it says on Page 58, you might need the diFF FM thing.

And it works ok here.

Do you have the diffm installed?

Mario

that might be a clue.
If not, buest starting point would be to read that topic... backwards.
because in the beginning there is a lot of "awesome" and "thanks"... only later come the "wtf?" and "y u not working" discussions :)

Yeah, I've been reading that thread, took a long time.:D
I don't really know what they mean with diff fm, since they said somewhere else that you wouldn't need it when using UP3 and/or modact 3.6 (I think) which I both have. After some more reading, I found they probably meant the ''DiffFm_UP3.0RC mod'', which I downloaded and installed. However, it still doesn't work.
Also, what is 1956 1.1? Isn't that the so called jetpack? Cus as far as I know, that is included in UP.

That jetwar section seems a good idea. Maybe they know more about this particular mod. But I thought this might just be a normal mod problem.

That's the problem, there is no error. Everything works fine, no crashes. The planes just don't show up...
Mojo, where is the jetwar section? I can't seem to find it...

When no error shows on your monitor,
in that time real error reason is recorded in log file backside.
We can see the reason in log file after.

This is the because, you have to make recording log.

I tried it with that diff FM mod, but they still didn't show up. I have made a log file, but I have no idea how to see what might be causing this.

With DiffFM, log's first about 1500 lines are no need.
That is only loading flightmodels in 1946 starting.

You can find mission beginning line at 1500th line or later like "Loading mission Quick/Okinawa/OkinawaBlueScramble02.mis...".
Error may be recorded after here.
Search "ERROR" or "WARNING" there.

Or... search the word "F8".

Yeah, I had to use an other backup anyway. For some reason the game would suddenly crash at 100% loading a quick mission.

All the previous mods are still there, and I have made a new backup-backup ;D. Now I can try installing the crusader pack again.
I didn't find anything in the log file, so I think I'll just have to try again. Lets start with placing the diff fm file and the crusader pack.
Does anyone know where they are usually placed? That might have caused the problem in the last game.
