UP2.01
« on: February 21, 2012, 09:29:24 PM »

I lost my head, and can no longer get my UP2.01 to start. What I did in a moment of foolish hubris was to download and install IL-2v410m into my 409m version of UP2.01. I have been unable to get the game to start since then. The trouble is that I can't remember the sequence I built from 409m to UP2.01.
Does anyone know how to restore the game or direct me to the proper sequence of builds? I can start from a clean copy of IL-2 1946-UP.

sorry mate, but you've well and truly buggered your game by doing what you did.
so you basically patched your UP201 game to 4.10....baaad move.
for starters, please consider going with UP3 RC4 install, unless you specifically want a UP201 version.
UP201 is for v409m. anything after that, UP3, etc, is for 410 version.
so, if you want a 410 version, you'll have to start with a clean, unmodded install, patched up to 4.10 BEFORE adding any mods, modacts, etc.
i recommend: stock game, patched to 4.10/4.10.1
then UP3RC4
then DBW, if you want to.
there are now some superpack downloads available to make this process easier. read here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23418.0.html
first decide exactly which version you want to run with, then it'll be easier for us to point you in the right direction.;)

Currently there are very few sites that allow downloading of 4.09/UP2.01!
And are two French sites!

and when you do have a stock game, back it up, just copy the whole game folder to a safe place... so you can start again in a few months if you want.

Thanks for your replies. I do have backup copies of 409, 410, UP3, 4101, DBW 1.6.7 and 1.7.1. Unfortunately, I procrastinated over 2.01. I managed to download the 2.01 installers, but I think I'll just forget about it. What I liked so much about it were the maps. I'd installed updates, and they were looking good.
I have a nice working DBW 7.1, but I've never quite figured out how to deal with map updates for it. I saved the mapmods folder from 2.01 and wondered if it would work in DBW. Any ideas.
Anyway, thanks again for your input. Chastened, I shall go and hope to sin no more.

Just to add. I'd saved the mapmod and mission folder from 2.01. I disabled the mapmod from 1.7.1, and copied into it the mapmod folder I'd saved from 2.10, and, "Behold!", the maps from 2.01 have worked in 1.7.1-so far.
