Not only do we have to fight the Germans but now the weather has turned bad. But we are still going forward with our attacks. Were moving our base closer to the front today. So i volunteered to fly some cargo to our new base. Hope this old gooey bird don't get lighting struck got a full load of fuel drums stowed in the back.

Excellent shots again WWHappy, like the ground strike lined up with the highway, you caught them before they made the turn.

You don't spend a lot of time in the Gooneybird, but I do like to fly it now and again.  You get a go in it during the BoB campaign too and an upcoming set will open with a C-47 flight, its a kind of signature piece, somewhere in there.

The weather is historical, poor weather, heavy rain and thunderstorms would put these missions around Alamein in early November, 1942, the rain aiding the Axis retreat.  37 missions in and now things are really starting to heat up as the pendulum swings the other way, Tunisia, here we come!

SAS~Malone
can i be a pain, and please ask for a mediafire link for the objects pack?
i've been trying for a couple days now, but for some reason, gamefront does not like my pc/me.
if my internet explorer doesn't crash, then the download simply starts, then ends straight away, after a few kb have been d/l'd, and it says 'download complete'.  ::)
or, actually, any other hosting site should work fine, but gamefront is a no-go with me.
tried IE, Firefox, Chrome - none of them work for this particular file...:(

I just tried the link several times with the same result, i think gamefront is buggered!

No worries lads, doing it now.  I am able to download the Gamefront link, when I have it will put up an extra link to Mediafire...

...done, also up on the first page.

G'day Monty,

Just out of interest, the campaign appears to runs fine in my modded HSFX 5.01 (with the North Africa Map) and without the MOD_Static_DAF pack. I also get a fully functioning the P40 artificial horizon back (missing in DBW due to some arcane mod conflict).
Interesting!

Cheers

Monty27

As I thought it would be judging from your previous DBW campaigns this one is proving to be really enjoyable. The Hurri is a superb gun platform and behaves wonderfully especially in flak conditions. It's a good counterpoint to the spitfire which is superb at high altitudes. I am loving all the ground-pounding here and the map is gorgeous just as the Malta one was. I do like the squadron skins on the Hurri.

Thank your for the revised installation routine. It was complex enough for me to have a headache by the end but that's nothing new. I appreciate the hefty workload that has gone into this campaign and you do great credit to the original from Oleg et al in extending and upgrading the whole environment in conjunction with SAS with DBW.

Having served in the desert I am taken back to the hot conditions and burning sun, the sand that gets everywhere and the parched throat that you live with everyday. This campaign is full of ambience and character. I have combined it with the sound files from the Biggin Hill Wing which provide for some wonderful flight audio. I am immersed in the period again.

Thank you for breathing new life into such a superb to begin with piece of software.

IMHO still some of the best campaigns created for IL-2.

I quite agree - whatever happened to Compans? I remember some very fine BoF hurri skins he did (I think?) too, good times. Sorry Monty27, back to you now mate :) Not had an opportunity to fly this campaign yet, but devoured your BoB (very excited for the update!) and Malta campaigns - absolutely first class, a pleasure to fly, thank you :) - and can't wait to get 1.71 up and running as this is first on the list!

Hi Monty.

Thankyou for the DAF campaign.
I have noticed some planes are not in the mission as mentioned in the briefing notes
I am not seeing any Stuka's in mission 22,just me 109s ???.So I just opened up the mission and changed them to the Stuka's.Also the next mission, again the same thing. Now I also have a problem with the short films inbetween the missions from mission 22 and 23.They just show what appears to be the inside of a vehicle ???Apart from this nit picking of mine ;) I find this campaign vey enjoyable.

Thankyou Monty

That's not nitpicking mate, its good honest feedback, the lifeblood of these large projects.

The latest DAF Patch now contains a repaired video 22, 23, 24 and 25, wierd that, and corrected Missions 22, 23 and 24.  All of these seem to be tied up with a Stuka issue.  I don't have any obvious mods that might have changed things, but something got busted in the process.  Anyway, the missing flights are there again.  Changing the Bf109s isn't quite enough, since they should be there in addition to the Stukas, twelve in all for each of those missions!

Thanks for your observations and useful help.  I guess halfway through DAF is pretty good going, already a lot more missions done than for most non-DGen campaigns, so if you find any other gremlins please let me know and they will be squared away.

These things can happen with a complex project, but where else do you get customer service like this?
