Hi

I currently use 4.09 with a whole host of MODS extra aircraft etc...  I would like to upgrade the version to 4.10 so i can start flying the new Phantom on here and other new upgrades to Il2.

Hope some one can help, i have had a scout around the site but i obviously have missed the download section for updating 4.09.

Keep your MODDed 4.09m folder.

Make a new install as another folder name, and update that new folder to 4.10.1m.

yes, forget about updating your 409 modded version to a new version.
tears and frustration guaranteed to follow when your game stops working...
best to start with a vanilla game, and use one of the updates mentioned, according to what you're looking for.

for 4.101, use modact 3.6. its pretty good. and dont forget to get the latest buttons file. i forgot to do this when i upgraded and it took me weeks to figure out what was causing it. it was just the buttons file in the end.

Am I correcting in understanding that a Vanilla install is a clean (or re-install) of the original Il2 1946 cd rom?

(not to hot on all things PC so I am trying to learn as I use Il2.  cheers.)

yep also: games that have no mods whatsoever are called "stock". 4.07 stock, 4.08 stock...4.11 stock

ok so if i do the follow I should be ok..

1 load a clean (vanilla) install of il1946  (do i change the file name or somthing to stop it istalling over the top of the existing file?)

   the final ones being patch 4.10m and patch 4.10m bug fix.

OK, thanks for the instructions guys.
I have installed a clean version on Il2 1946 and brought it up to 4.10m spec:
installed in order:
4.08m
4.09m
4.10m
4.10m(4.10bugfix)

Now to install   modact, UP3, DBW etc

so what files do I need now? and in what order please!!    again sorry to sound like I don't have a clue (cos I don't! LoL)

just read this on newbie SAS mod act post:
~Not needed by players who only want to download and play a big Pack, like UP, HSFX, or UP/DBW. Those all have their own "built in" modactivators.

so I don't need MOD act if I desided to unstall UP/DBW ??

UP and DBW both come with a modact, so u dont need to get modact seperatly. if u want the phantom, u should get DBW, which, in turn requires UP.
