1946 graphics?

Hey so ive been lurking around a bit in here, just bought il2 clod and 1946, clod is fun to fly in but lots of bugs, so ive downloaded the 1946 f*n big superpack and my game still looks like crap, i go on you tube and people have the game looking almost like clod... how do they do this (what mods, settings, config... etc)

wow quick reply.. i have an intel core i5 2500k at around 4.5ghz, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram, and an msi gtx 570 twinfrozr 3 at around 820/1640 and my monitor is 1920x1080

its starts up in dbw fine.. i havent tried up mode mostly because i dont know the specifics of how to change "modes", and what im looking for is for the planes to have better textures and just have it looking as good as i possibly can get it looking, ill see if i can get a screeny for you guys one sec

Looks good,you should be able to rip IL2 with those specs.I should also mention that I'm running various effects mods to like bigger clouds and water effects which all can be found here and which most videos you are seeing have installed.I'm also experimenting with this http://dispersalfield.ru/main/index.php/topic,705.0.html Carsmaster's new visual effects brings the look closer to clod's standard.

we are not even at that stage yet. this beast has some yearsto go... :)

to switch modes, find some documentation in the base game folder, i think it is a PDF.
il-2 1946/sas modact3 documentation/  -->suggest reading the entire folders contents,
the tool to switch etween stock (standard official game), UP3 and DBW is the selector.exe
--> DBW 1.7 Dox/Il-2 selector_manual.pdf.

uh, and ... attaching screenshot via Imageshack imagehosting. No on-server hosting.
 (this is the noob section, so, pardon me... ima gunna treat you like a noob)

just went into the selector and put it in UP mode, it loaded to 60 and crashed lol.

They don't look bad at all.Remember your plane textures are only going to look so good, they are designed to have skins that are only 1mb in size so there isn't much information that can be packed into them without degradation of the image.That's why I still have my hopes on Carsmaster's experiments.

okay. the water can be pushed.
in the image quality/ scenery  settings, try "perfect" instead of "high"

Otherwise, i see a stock skin on that Zero... a Paintjob that is , uh... 6+ years old.

you could download a custom-painted skin...
But the limitations on Paintjobs are still the same ones they were in 2001: 256 colors, and 1024x1024.
Its not going to look anyhwere as good as the CLOD textures, unfortunately.

60% error?
when switching from stock to UP mode, before switching you need to enable UP in JSGME.

so:
open jsgme.exe,
move "UP3" from the left to the right, wait a second for things to be copied)
and close.
check again that in the selector.exe you are in UP mode, and the game should start fine.

(when going back to standard, go to jsgme, ,ove UP3 from the right to the left, close, open selector.exe, and switch from UP3 to stock, close, start game)

its a bit much to do, when one is new, i recon.
