This is Fix 1.2  for missing  roads and bridge on the map, please delete old map folder, do not overwrite. Sorry about this :)

UP~Boomer

A Red quick in 2 versions..
DBW:
One LYBIA_1941RedAirbase00.mis (a scramble) with Epervier's _08__Object_Plane_v2.1 mod used, works also with version V2.2. Also static planes for Histomod, were replaced in DBW automatically (the Sabres by DBW Sabres).
Since I assume the above mod needs to be loaded and Histo's static planes might interfere, made one without static planes at all, named LYBIA_1941RedScramble00.mis ..
Both versions have extra palms at 4-6 airbases around Tobruk and west of it and at the target practicing base at wayp. 2 west of Bir El Gobi.
Also birds, yet this mod is not relevant for loading.
Both versions feature an armed blue fources tanker near Tobruk and an Illustrious class carrier (red)

Histomod.
Same, one with Epervier's mod and one without, also minus static planes.



In short, just try, nothing fancy. One Histomod and one DBW version, 2 missions each. Target base is fun, especially in the Histo version where you can bomb Mig-17s and tanks, in DBW only tanks. Birds over target base as well. :D

Don't wanna be a party pooper but JV69_Bada doesn't want his Lybia map to be retextured by nobody.  ;)
I remember another retexture of the same map by Whitecat, also with Redko's desert textures.
I can't find JV69-Bada's comment anymore but I'm sure I've read it somewhere.

I really don't understand the idea of retexturing 'new' maps, unless it is by the mapmaker himself, or he asks someone to do it. Mapmakers spend a hell of a lot of time getting their map how they want it to look, it just seems to be offering them an insult by retexturing and posting it. Nothing to stop you doing it for yourself, of course.
There are all of the (quite often) bloody awful stock maps that can be or have been retextured; these are open to anybody's ideas of what they should look like and the more options for these maps the better.

Are you joking, right ? The great thining in this community is, all people doing every thing  for free and spend a hell of a lot of time, including me. I spend four weeks to do this, and I really liked ! In my private opinion map Lybia NE i out of date with texturing, and all old maps should be retexture to today's standards, i love this map, and i will finish this for me, and my crew, but you, or someone else will have no chance to try it and this is bad .  Sometimes is it's very hard to find the author of mod, or map, specially when you are short time member of community, and i am sure you now this. Good think about  free retexturing is maps is alive for many years........
  Now to  JV69_Bada ( wherever you are )  Sorry, sorry, sorry :D  i hope you will update your map very soon, i really like it,  and i try help.

I agree with you here and do think a discussion with the map maker first could save a lot of time on a wasted re-texture unless you truly did just want it for personal use. I have re-textured 9 maps in total, never sought permission but then have never released them and they are just for personal use, the only re-texture i ever released was the online 8 islands but that was stock.

As long as you get the author's permission it's okay to redo a map and publish it. If no permisson you can keep the map for yourself and squad mates of course.
Like MANYSH stated it can be hard to find the author of a map, especially if you are not long around here.
There were no bad intentions to retexture this map. Just enthusiasm and what's wrong with that?
To be honest I don't know if JV69_Bada would still have objections because his map is from 2008 and since then mapmaking has improved a lot.
I've seen many retextures of modded maps in the MapWorx section, sometimes the original creator pops in and give his feedback.
Asking permission from the creator is a kind of a gentlemen's agreement which I fully support.

By the way, did we ask permission by Oleg and his team to redo his maps etc.?  ::)

Map makers are not omnipotent and haven't always mastered all the many aspects necessary to make a good map. There are far too many techniques you need to understand and have the experience with in order to produce a good map.

Input from others should be welcomed, of course with the requisite politeness of acknowledging the original authors. Rather much like covering a song.

But aside from that, the more interpretations of a map the better.

I downloaded this repaint nevertheless last night and I must say it is very promising. I like the redko-esk touch of textures, a good variety among those and on a first test no repetitiveness.
Tested at 17.00 from coast to inland and it is nice.

I will pm MANYSH because I think this is a good one.
