TRK to NTRK
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:54:45 PM »

Hi I'm new here on this board.

I have problems with building NTRKs from my recorded TRK-tracks. First all works fine, but after a few minutes my course goes wrong and the video shows nonsense only, at last the whole new NTRK is completely different to the original mission.

With older Il2-versions I made a lot of nice NTRK-files in this way, but it doesn't work at all with UP3/DBW 1.71
I use to share my NTRK-files by email with a friend and we had a lot of fun with it in the past, but since using DBW/UP3 he got exactly the same problem.

Hope someone has an idea to fix it!

Thanks for your attention, sorry about my poor English.

far as i know(and it's happened to me many times) this problem has happened to the stock game as well in the past, just not as much as now that it's modded.
even recording a straight TRK sometimes ends up with chaos - planes chasing and shooting at ghosts, flying into the ground, etc.
this has often been blamed on people using the time speed up/slow down feature, but i know it's happened to me without ever having used that.
a fix would be nice, but i honestly doubt it'll ever happen.
just as TRK files are not compatible between different stock versions, with mods the problem is even worse.

As an offliner, I make *.trk files frequently, in order to improve my flying skills (if any   ;) ).
The problem was very rare, if at all present, in 4.09 times, regardless the time compression used or not. It became worse and worse with each new version of Il2. Now, even with unmodded 4.11, it becomes a nightmare.

I had this problem with all stock versions too.
Even in a stock 4.09m I saw this kind of problem, so I gave up recording TRKs and I only use NTRK for recording now.

The main disadvantage of NTRK files over TRK ones is that you must decide to do it in the beginning of  the mission, while making TRK files is easily made after the mission you want to document. I must insist that in the former versions the failure of trk files was rare, now with 4.11 it is much more frequent. This concerns my PC with 2GB RAM, perhaps this may be reason for others different exprience. The problem seem to be largely overlooked up to now by programmers.

Maybe somebody could make a mod that makes ntrk recordings instead of trk ones in the beginning of the mission, so, when debriefing, you can decide if you will keep it or not. If you decide to do not keep it, the file will be deleted and if you decide to keep it, you will be asked for a new name for it.
I think this is a good idea, what you guys think about it?

DEATH TO TRK!!! NTRK FOREVER!!! :D ;D :P

Nice idea, but I think what we really need is a completely different format for recording the missions.
