Good place to find a COOP group?
« on: March 29, 2012, 06:33:56 PM »

Doing some searches came up with mostly no longer around websites etc.

Basically looking for a smallish preferably Luftwaffe based coop group. Is there a list of current ones up anywhere?

Yeah IL2 1946. Currently running DBW 1.71 and DCG 3.47 with some mods.

Figured I would have to do another install of IL2 for online Co-op stuff. Just need to find a group and then find what they are running etc.

Never played IL2 online at all. So, pretty much an online noob.

well, i'm  an online noob as well, but i think it might be better to try online using UP3 version, as DBW breaks several online features, it's designed for offline.
if you use DBW, then you should be able to just switch to UP version via the switcher.

Yeah, that would be simple. But depends on what a group is running. I am aware DBW is for offline only though.

Or...can you just jump into a coop game using UP3?

Usually people who want mods for coops use UP3 (at least I think). It is easy, the content is fixed so there are less incompatibility problems then Modact. Then if there are some other mods that they would like to add they just share their #UP# folder so they still have the same.
DBW could work online but it doesnt have any MDS (which is useful for online). However for the newest jets (if you like them) it is currently the only way to play online with them (new Jet Era doesn't work with UP3, and F-4 not yet).

Best is you search for a squad (here in Linx forum, M4T, Ubi), pick out one that suits you best and contact them to see how they are playing.

Hope I helped
