Juan,

I am now revising the campaign: you start out flying the Loire 46 until late October, switch to the Fury, which you fly until early November. Then you fly two missions with the Potez 25. For the final three missions you fly a "repaired" Dewoitine 372.

That should be close enough to reality.

And yes, in one mission you scramble alone in a Fury to defend Madrid against oncoming Junkers....

It looks really great. I'm eager to fly it. Thanks Poltava.

That Mahon is getting better and better. Thank you guys.

I must confess – I have never really paid much attention to the history of the Spanish Civil war period. But the sheer effort & dedication you & your team have put into this is astounding. It has been fascinating to see all the new and intriguing aircraft you guys have put out at such a phenomenal rate as well. Has certainly got my interest going into researching and reading up on the Spanish Civil war & pre-WWII era – a fascinating period, and looking forward spending many hours flying over Agraciers masterpiece maps in an open top bi-plane.
Salute to you – Dreamk and all your helpers, especially Agracier, Real Darko & Archie1971, for opening up IL2 to a new era.

[DJP]  Problem solved. I'd forgotten to d/l the revised version. Now I have it. RTFM and all that. So 'our' map works too. I want to do four SCW campaigns starting on this map. There will be two, two seater campaigns, and two fighter campaigns. The first is a Nationalist Bre 19 campaign beginning on July 19th 1936. I just finished the briefing last night. The Republican one will also feature Bre 19s, and often mirror the Nationalist one. Then a Nationalist, and Republican campaign for fighters. Nationalists starting on Ni52s, and graduating to CR32s. Republicans starting on Ni52s, and moving on to something else in the next campaigns. Both sets of campaigns will go until late 1938-39.

Their sequence might be interrupted by other campaigns. I'd like to do a Chinese one for the Gamma. There is a series of sequels to the PZl 23 campaign, I'd like to do. There's a FAA Korea campaign, which is just vapourware also. I'd like to do one for Arnhem. It'd be ficticious. The player would be flying a Typhoon, or Tempest. He'd be providing air cover, and ground support for the British and Polish paratroopers. There's an East African 1941 campaign, the first part of which has been done. There are also a couple of others about 95% done.

cheers

Wow, it looks like you have a whole campaign of campaigns running there, David.  ;D
Thanks a lot for the new detailing in Agracier's Baleares map, great work.

Talking about planes, what I like the most of SCW is that due to their desperate need of aircraft, they purchased or throw in combat anything that fell in their hands, so list of planes in SCW is an almost complete catalogue of the Golden Age aircraft from the whole world.  ;D
And thanks to DreamK, Agracier and all the rest of people contributing in modelling, gathering info, mapping, skinning, making campaigns, this is becoming also a golden age in aviation of the 30s simulation.  ;D

Hi Juan. I thought rather than starting in Madrid, I'd think outside the box. So the Balaerics are perfect. Instead of having the Republican two seater dude start in Bre 19s, I'll have him start in Macchis and Vildebeests. Then he can move on to other things. I thought about adding the 'new' Fiat CR32. However, I'll stick with Frakiek's one. Actually, when I thought I couldn't use the map, I added stuff to the original instead. So, I'll use that for the first campaign. Then I'll revert to the altered one. The release sequence will likely be SCW, other etc. That way, people won't so likely grow tired of SCW.

I guess the Republicans landed on Cabrera to use it as a staging post. I can see their logic. I guess the landings at Punta Amer, and Puerto Cristo were aimed at cutting the island in half, or being able to advance in either direction. They aren't marked on the map, but, I've populated them. I have an excellent outline of the main events and dates. It could go to 15 missions without any dejavu.

Virtually all navies had MTBs. So I've given each side a Vosper or two. They might start harassing the other side's fishing boats, and need to be dealt with. There were Republican Subs too. Italian subs started operating later. I'm assuming the German M boat would make a good stand in for a Gunboat. I'm using it in the Gran Chaco War campaign for that. Andrea, and Valentina will be prominent characters too. So will Cocito, and her ilk.

As for the new starter truck that's in the pipeline. I guess the Russians and Japanese had them. If you look closely at pictures of some of the new SCW planes, they appear to have a thing extending out of their spinner to receive the nozzle from a starter truck. So, I think they'll be getting used as eye candy on some SCW and Sino-Japanese airfields.

Well, ggrew. I don't think you'll have to wait long for some more SCW campaigns to arrive. Poltava is presently working on a Madrid campaign. He's done one for the Dewotine in China. Check it out if you want. And who knows what else he's got up his sleeve? I'd like to do some China v Japan ones. A few different planes were used there.

cheers

David

The use of a starter truck was general in Spain as the pilots prefered to keep the compressed air of the Viet starter, for "emergency" restarting in case the engine stopped functioning during flight

Thanks,Dreamk. I'll include starter trucks as base eyecandy in SCW missions as soon as they appear. I just did a dry run for the first mission in Balaerics Breguets. Next, I'll add the escort, and opponents.

Interestingly enough, the German inlines in the great war appear to have had self starters. I saw a film of some A type Aviatiks. They were on the ground. Next thing, you saw the prop turning. No sign of a mechanic propping them. Thanks again for the great planes.

cheers

Hi again, David,
Good idea to use Vildebeest and Macchi for Baleares instead of Br-XIX. That detailing of the campaign sounds really great. About the starter trucks, you can see in Wingflyr post that most of the pics He included are taken in Spain. Those are our chatos. ;D

Hi Juan. Yes, I thought two Bre19 campaigns from the same place and time would be dejavu. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mercedes will become cannon fodder for some Thunderbolts, or Typhoon/Tempests one fine day. The CantZ501 is gone, so I can use the Walrus as an S62 stand in. The SM81 has been added. So has the WWI Macchi flying boat. I'll also use the Bre19 in the re-release of Canaries 1. I was going to use the Potez. But the Bre 19 has bigger bombs.

cheers

David

Seriously speaking: is someone actually working on a "DBW 1936"? (In the line of "DBW 1916".)
