color filters
« on: April 05, 2012, 12:26:18 PM »

Hi,
although the effects in il2 can look real good with the proper mods installed, the ground colors seem a bit too bright. Especially the grass looks a little too greenish, almost cartoon-like sometimes. I found this vid from cyberolas in the maps section:
It seems like he made the vid a little darker, but I think that is done with some movie editor program. Does anyone know of any mods that make you able to change the brightness a bit in the game?
Thanks,
Hanzie

Yeah, but then all the other programs would be affected too. A mod seems a bit more 'subtile'... :D

Hanzie,
there are tens of programs that working in layers over the game (basically interacting with the videocard) allow for gamma, color temperature and individual RGB correction.

In fact, the control panel of you nVIDIA or ATI video card includes these controls too. In most of the cases you can assign it to profiles for use with Il-2 only.

From my point of view there isn't any need of a MOD for this purpose. Anything you could attempt at Il-2 engine level would affect (perhaps very little) the performance.

  Regards,
                        Pablo

There was also a mod for darker (ground) textures, if I remember right by Avala.

Yes: it was "Terrain lighting enhanced" by Avala. Which did exactly what you ask: less bright/cartoonish ground.

Maybe he has an updated version?

The best way to get good picture, is set up your PC monitor, if you have good one.
I have preset made by me, just one click and this is result, this is what i see.

Problem is when I do screen shot ,it back to Flat no contrast IL-2, and until someone not change contrast in game you will not get good picture with out tricks
