Russian VAP-250 Napalm Dispenser ~SOLVED
« on: December 11, 2009, 12:06:16 AM »

For the life of me I can't figure out how to use the VAP-250 on the IL-2 Sturmovik (any model). I equip the VAP-250 in the load-out section of the QMB and I can see it attached to the airplane. when I attempt to use it in the mission nothing happens! I have tried all the weapons keys and no go. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Yeah, this is a bit of a strange one, but if you open the non-existent bombbay doors first, you'll probably find it works... ;)
I assume that this is how these dispensers worked, they weren't actually ejected, maybe saved for re-use, knowing how thrifty the Russians were during the war.. 8)

When you look closely you see that the VAP250's are actually bomblets, not a continues stream of napalm. So opening the bombbay doors makes sense.

That is probably AJ-2 cassette.  VAP is (or is supposed to be) an actually dispenser of smoke/chemicals, carried externally.   Bombay doors mod broke the logic of Il-2 bomb bay doors.  In real life, these operate automatically after ordnance release.  Also, see how you now have to "open" bomb bay doors that are already open to use PTABs and other dispensed ordnance.  I believe the bombay doors are only present when you carry FAB-50/100s or they are empty.
