no, you make the reticle smaller on it's tga. Beware though, reducing the picture size wont work, you have to reduce the size of the reticle on it.

I just discovered a fluke in being able to adjust the gyro-reticle size according to the AC type while trying out Newview yesterday. Intriguing. I hold down Shift and the SW angle on the POV hat allows me to adjust the size on the fly. Dunno if this was already doable, but I've seen no mention of such an assignment in the control setup.... 8)

Wrong, you can adjust the size of reticle by editing "Z_Z_Reticle.msh"
Take a look at NonWonderDog's reticles how its done...

Ok, so does anyone know how to restore the default reticles in this game?  With the UP 1.8 or HSFX 4.1 installed?  I'm looking specifically for the navy reticules, but it looks like I actually want all the default reticles back.  Anyone know which .sfs files I need to extract those from to build the mod to override the modded reticules that UP 1.8 and HSFX 4.1 force on me?

I love their work, and really appreciate all the effort they put into these, but I need my default reticules back.

Well, excuse me for living! ;D
Works for me though, so, not so wrong, perhaps, just not your way.

This Mod Should restore the Stock Reticles:

If you want to use the Stock Reticles with UP 1.8 I've made a mod that will bring them back.

I've only tested this with the F4U-1C so if you find that I've missed a plane from the Stock IL-2 Game please let me know and I'll see if I can't find it.

Simply Place the extracted folder into your JSGMEMods Folder in your Root IL-2 Game Directory.  Then use the JSGME to enable the "Default Reticles" mod.

Your all set and should have stock reticles when you fly.

You can download this mod from the following Link:

Thank you, but which part of "Z_Z_Reticle.msh" is related to the size of reticle? How to adjust it?

You can run a text comparison with Nonwonderdogs mod and have a look. Once you get the hang of that you can do it.

it is in the vertices framed part.

here is a comparison:

original:
Code: [Select]
[Vertices_Frame0]
1.52399 1.52399 0.0686646 0 0 1
-1.52399 1.52399 0.0686646 0 0 1
-1.52399 -1.52399 0.0686646 0 0 1
1.52399 -1.52399 0.0686646 0 0 1

reduced size:
Code: [Select]
[Vertices_Frame0]
1.495 1.495 0 0 0 1
-1.495 1.495 0 0 0 1
-1.495 -1.495 0 0 0 1
1.495 -1.495 0 0 0 1

The other quick way is to open the reticle tga file in like photoshop. And reduce the size of the reticle itself on the canvas. In other words, dont change the dimentions of the image overall, becaue whther it is 256 x 256 or 512 x 512 ot 16 x 16, the mesh will make it apear the same size. But if you reduce the reticle itself on the canvas, then it will be smaller in relation...savvy?

I have done this quite often. the only trap to watch for, is if a plane uses two reticles over each other, like NWD mods like to do. You have to treat them both equally.

And of course, remember to keep your reticle in the center of the canval lol.
