As for the range thing, it is more correct now. It is the scale itself (the radar screen) is off. Have a looks at the diagram on first page. Basically, the range for radar is 20km, so 20km will begin from the very top of the screen (target begin to show at about 18km 17km away). In the middle of the screen is 10km and below is less than 10km. I'll find a good texturer to fix that soon.

The lock-on zone thing was correct at first, only target inside the 2 horizontal lines are locked, but due to some difficulties, I have to remove the lower boundary. I'll try to re-implemented that somehow...

As for the angle limit, I was waiting so long for someone to comment on that. However, I'm facing a bit of dilemma here. Because one of my (credible) sources tell me other wise, different from what you tell me here, so I'll hold this off, keeping it as is, until it's better decided  ;)

As for delay time, I just find that it's not realistic to be able to switch between lock and scan mode readily. So I implemented 5 seconds (in 2.04) delay from switching to tracking mode from scanning mode. Can you look into this? And also refresh rate. 2 second is okay?

Something that can also be adjustable is Scan Range (like above) can be variable (with button press), refresh rate can also be variable.

P/S: Anyone want this?

You MUST be running Il-2 1956 The Jet Era v1.3 or later, see this thread.
You MUST be using Buttons Version 10.1 or later, see this thread.
You MUST be running the SAS Engine mod. Otherwise this pack will NOT work. Available Here.
You MUST be using MiG-21Mod, see this thread.

As for this source: http://www.flyshark.republika.pl/Stacja_angielska/sapfir.htm I'm 100% sure it's a legitimate source. The guy who wrote this is a former commander of 41st Tactical Squadron of Polish Air Force, and what he put there is declassified data. The Polish version also contains performance data about MiG-21bis - I guess AMT could find this usefull: http://www.flyshark.republika.pl/Samoloty_pliki/merlin.htm

And since scan mode limitations for RP-22 he proposed must be equal or higher than it would be for RP-21 (unless russians made worse and worse radars as they progressed... doesn't add up), these were the logical limits I came up with for the older one.

As for vertical scale, you're right. I took another look at this photo...

...and it seems there shouldn't be vertical scale at all. And lock on gate should be narrower horizontally, pretty much matching the length of vertical limiters you made. And horizontal scale should be shorter. And... and... XD. Gonna see if I can fix the skin myself without messing up the cockpit.

As of horizontal scale I'm 100% sure those lines are for track mode and almost sure they show 5 and 10 degrees and that the edge of screen is something arroud 12-13 degrees. The limits for tracking may be correct (except for vertical one - seriously, every possible source I found so far shows that vertical limit for RP-21 is much lower than the horizontal one), just note that target would be off screen anywhere beyond 13* in any direction and without quickly getting it back into screen pilot would have trouble finding it again (although it's still tracked). Because of that, vertical limit actually can be lower for tracking mode without looking strange in game, because it still would be bigger than display limits.

As for that 5s delay, I couldn't find any info on that but it seems good to me.

Thanks mati, I've ask GGM to have a looks at the radar screen thing and it's pretty good! So I'll try to do a few more thing with the radar code soon.

I know that your source are very credible and good, however the whole point of me doing MiG-21 cockpit and radar thing was from a request of a friend I've mention. So if he's not happy with it, I have no intention to continue. TBH.

Anyway, once everyone is happy with this radar, I'll port it over to the MiG-21 and Anto will take it from there.

Cheers,

It's a feature, not a bug, I've currently filtered all the Friendly aircraft so that it won't show on radar (Represent IFF function) but it will be modified with a proper IFF later on.

..ok,but...RADAR operates on wave reflection, even a plane doesn't have an IFF,the RADAR must show something, probably is  show as enemy or unknown...
