That is truly twisted.  

If DBW 1916 catches on and becomes amazingly popular, there are gonna be a whole lotta help being requested to "....help me get these skins installed. . .".

Thanks for the interest. First I'm gonna do a quick skin update, then later a more well researched one with the involvement of Max.
I planned this as a personal mod-fix, but seeing that people care for DBW 1916 I'm gonna make it public.
I will include a skining guide with internal/external/skin folder names to avoid further confusion. Plus I'll will make a hopefully short buglist for the java programmer willing to participate. So far I got one bug: I can not place static plane SB_Bomber_RFC and his buddies.

Here's a beta version of the update package I put together in the last 3-4 days:

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

step 1. rename your existing '#DBW_1916' folder to '-#DBW_1916'
step 2. extract rar archive into your game folder

Been testing and so far so good. Going to make a few QMB missions and see how it goes. Thanks a lot for your hard work on this.

WOW! That is amazing, you already figured out where the defaults skins are at and
extracted them out ? Congratulations VP! 
I have been trying but with no luck, it´s all strange Alien language to me.
What you are doing is most excellent. I like the original version also, but this adds a more
artsy look to it. I must give this a try tomorrow when I get back home.

It was only possible because I had your great skinpacks so I had to choose from 78 different skins.
Plus many planes share the same default skin, so it wasnt as many as it seems.
There are a few things left to do, for example the Gotha's wings are not part of the default skin but come from another file which I cant locate, same with the Nieuport-11/17 cowling texture and the HP 0/400 bombers wings too.

I removed the package because I've found several problems, I'll put back a new version tomorrow morning.
