Wondering if a Dauntless with the Rufe floats, can work... What do you think?

Cool as a model, but I have a connection to this plane! - My uncle was in a mid-air collision in one, ferrying it to be decommissioned. They landed ok, but he said even when they were new, everybody hated them....

This plane and it's request deserves a bump... Especially with ten010's M6A1 and I400 mod in the works.... Seaplanes catapulting off cruisers won't be to far off!!!

Don't we already have the 3D in the Objects now?...........  Either a Dauntless, or Buffalo cockpit would work in lieu of a brand new one.  I'd like to see it in game too, with our pilot rescue mod it would come in very handy, we wouldn't have to fly the PBY all the time.

Cheers

it is under the command and control mod... it is called SAR (surface air rescue) it places a downed pilot in the sea at the location of the object, and you can go rescue him! if the enemy gets too close, he is captured. its very interesting. there is an on-land version of the SAR object called RESCAP, but represents a pilot shot down over land.

It's an AG-51 Mod for HSFX, made by Fireball.  Works very well, usually the first guy to die on our DF server missions will go grab a PBY and wait for other guys to ditch and then pick them up, you get points for it too...........

Here's the explanation of the mod, it's still in beta test, once it's good to go we will probably put in the public forums with the other mods and you'll be able to use it.

AG-51 Aircrew Rescue 1.0 for HSFX 6

In a stock multi-player mission, if you lose your engine, or get damaged, or run out of gas, you just try to ditch or bailout somewhere outside of enemy territory. Once you're on the ground or in the water you lay there on the ground or float there in the water for about 30 seconds, then you disappear and you're done. Everyone else on your team presses on home, because there's nothing anyone can do for you. There's really no incentive for you to try to ditch or bailout near a rescue submarine, or near a reference point so rescuers will have an easier time locating you. There's no incentive for your wingman to stay with you as long as possible to protect you and mark your location. No rescue aircraft comes looking for you. None of the things that happened in real life to try to get you home really apply in the game.

This mod gives you two ways to get rescued:

- If you successfully ditch or bailout within 1000 meters of a friendly airfield or a friendly ship (including submarines), once you're down you can press your Attach/Detach key, then you and all of your crewmen will disappear and the game will log that you have been successfully rescued. Until you press your Attach/Detach key you will lay there on the ground or float in the water indefinitely.

- If you successfully ditch or bailout in the water more than 1000 meters from a a friendly ship or friendly airbase, instead of disappearing after 30 seconds you and your crewmen continue to float there in the water (unless you disconnect of course). One of your team mates can come searching for you in a seaplane. If the seaplane locates you, he'll land nearby, approach to within 100 meters, then press his Attach/Detach key. If he's close enough, you will disappear at that point, and the game will log that you've been picked up. Your team mate will fly the seaplane back to any friendly ship and land nearby. He'll approach to within 1000 meters of any ship, then press his Attach/Detach key. This will "unload" all the rescued airmen on board. The game will log that you have been successfully rescued.

[NOTE: All the descriptions of a seaplane rescue in the water would also apply to rescuing airmen downed on land if you can get a rescue aircraft of some sort within 100 meters of them to pick them up, then successfully get them back to a friendly base.]

the Kingfisher would be a great plane for this mod... sure hope it gets done sooner than later.  Another mod that would be good is to get deployable landing gear on the PBY for land taxi into the water and take offs or just takeoff and landings on land.  The Kingfisher also had landing gear, would definitely add a new dimension to the planes.

Cheers.

IL-2 needs more seaplanes!!! It's my dream to have this plane, the Curtiss Seahawks, the Grumman Goose, and a better 3D model of the PBY in the sim.... Maybe here in a couple days ill bump my Grumman Goose request.

Yup, some additional seaplanes, both red and blue would be nice.

Oh, yes! The lovely Kingfisher is a +1 for sure. More seaplanes yes. 8)  Japan used floatplanes quite a bit. Love to see the Aichi E13A 'Jake', Aichi  E16A Zuin (Paul) etc. (prefer not franken)  and the OS2U. Good request. :)

I apologize for piggy-backing to this, but I tried to figure out (real noobie!!!!!) how to post my own new topic in seaplanes but I don't have a button even though I am a registered member (today).  I would love to see a Curtiss SOC-3 Seagull Seaplane.  It exists in both CFS2, FS9 and FSX. There is also a lot of really good pictures on the 'net which I downloaded probably 40 pages of stuff last night and in storage somewhere I have the Profile #194 though if somebody agreed to do this bird, I know where I can buy another copy cheap and can scan it for the builder to use.  I am new to IL2; my good friend got me interested; I've got 2000 hours in commercials in FS9.  Been flying the Curtiss P40 Warhawk out of Pearl on IL2.  I fly great, but a real nugget at dogfighting.  So far I've been lucky and been able to crash land and "not die or get wounded yet".
